Wordpress theme generator

wp theme generator
Yvoschaap.com is a simple, easy-as-a-web-form way to generate your own color-coded wordpress theme, complete with standard options for sidebar placement and width, site name, logo URL, body width, color scheme, text scheme, the ability to add a third column to your theme and even insert-able Creative Commons and generic copyright text in the footer.

What used to take a fair bit of time -- tweaking and prodding a Wordpress theme to get everything just right -- now requires much less brain-power. Generated themes are handed to you on a sexy zip-file platter and are WordPress 2.1, WP widget and Yahoo UI compatible, not to mention it should work on any "A-grade" browser, sweet!

WordPress: The Complete Post-Install Checklist

WordPress logo One of the great things about WordPress is how easily you can have it up and running, completely customized to your liking, in such a short period of time. After setting up WordPress for several of my friends, I found that having a 'checklist' makes things go even faster - so I decided to write it all up and share with you.

Please don't hesitate to use the comments to suggest additions etc, I'll update the checklist accordingly.

Depending on how you've installed WordPress (manually or by a "one-click-install" that many hosting providers offer) - one of the very last installation steps is to choose a blog name and provide an email address. That's where this checklist begins. Click on a heading below to get started!

  13. Write down CSS info
  14. Change title format

WordCamp: A conference for WordPressers

WordCampMatt Mullenweg, founding developer of open source blogging platform WordPress, has announced WordCamp, a one-day conference for WordPress users and developers. It's being held for the first time on August 5 in San Fancisco and is following the example of BarCamp, including "free BBQ for lunch, WordPress t-shirts, and a full day of both user and developer discussion." According to Mullenweg, fellow Wordpress developers Donncha and Podz will be on hand from Ireland and England, respectively. Having recently installed the latest version of WordPress on my personal blog and being impressed all over again, I'd love to go to WordCamp, but it probably isn't in the cards.

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
