Get your Buffy fix via podcast - Download Pod

Vampire Killing KitIf you named your dog Spike, dream of vacationing in Sunnydale, and never quite got over what happened to Jenny Calendar, then you'll love the gem of a podcast we've uncovered for you. Buffy Between the Lines is original fan fic written and produced by a group of volunteers who probably know more about Xander, Willow, and Buffy than Joss Whedon himself.

Season One is, as they say, already in the can and all the episodes are available for download right from the site. All the usual suspects are featured, including some special appearances by Angel and his crew. The dialogue is snappy and spot-on, right down to the barbs Spike trades with, well, everyone.

Hurry up and get caught up with Season One. The cast is getting ready to start taping the second season and it should be available soon.

Warner Bros. to use BitTorrent to sell movies and TV online

warner bros to sell tv movies via bittorrentJust like iTunes did for file sharing music, Warner Bros. is going to start selling movies and TV online. While this is clearly an effort to legitimize the whole download yer entertainment thing, what's interesting is the use of BitTorrent as the tech behind the downloads. I don't think it's unusual though, as BitTorrent's technological solution to moving packets around is quite clever. It's a perfect tech for moving large files at high speeds, as would be needed. Besides, the prevailing theory has been if you offer a way for people to use BitTorrent (or any download system) legally, they'd use it. I'll admit I just don't bother looking for stuff on torrent sites just for the extra hassle it entails. Now what was that about the next version of OS X using BitTorrent? Hm...

Microsoft patents watching TV while chatting

microsoft patents chatting while watching tvThe scoop is on ArsTechnica. The patent is for a "multimode interactive television chat." Like Jeremy, I also worked for a company during the dotcom boom time that had the brilliant idea of embedding clickable links in QuickTime video content. Anyone seeing this today? I didn't think so. The holy grail of TV and interactivity may come to pass, however, if MS can figure out how to make it useful or at least fun. Personally I think it's boring enough to see "live" comments during a broadcast. Kinda like listening to the callers on QVC. I can't imagine it gets better interacting with the inane comments you're likely to see in the middle of a Cribs marathon. But I'm sure MS has plans to make TV chat a lot less annoying... right?

Graveyard Shift - zombie-busting Time Waster

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet. They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...
