Apple releases iTunes 7.3, just in time for the iPhone

itunes for iphoneApple has unleashed the iTunes 7.3 update, and as guessed, it contains support for the iPhone.

If you're an iTunes user, or a soon to be iPhone owner, the time has come to update your iTunes yet again. This new edition provides support for updating and managing the iPhone as well as a few new features. There is also a menu for iPhone help with manuals and tutorials, which link out, but are unfortunately not online as of yet.

Rumors are buzzing around that custom ringtones are also supported with the new iTunes. When a song is selected for a conversation, an interface comes up that allows you to pick a 30 second clip.

53 CSS tutorials anyone can do

css techniquesThere are many advantages to designing with Cascading Style Sheets. CSS is extremely easy to learn and rework once a basic site framework has been established. Websites, or website components can easily be changed into something totally different just by swapping a single CSS file, or a line within a CSS file.

CSS designers always seem to have a few different elements that they commonly use over and over in all designs, these can include navigation elements and form fields, among other items. Smashing Magazine has compiled a list of 53 CSS Techniques that you couldn't live without, linking out to tutorials on CSS navigation, tabbed navigation, bar graphs, rounded corners, hover effects, image map, submit buttons, custom bullets, and sidenotes. Whether you are new to CSS, or have been in it for a while, these are some great tutorials to have archived as reference materials.

It's Tutorialicious

tutorialicio.usAre you good at writing tutorials? Or maybe you have amassed a collection of tutorials you have written for friends and family? Maybe you're just looking for some inspiration? Enter tutorialicio.us. It's the del.icio.us and digg of the tutorial world. Tutorials are submitted and are voted on by members to rise to the top of tutorial land to be seen on the front page of the site. All of the tutorials are focused on programming and design, from creating a Web 2.0 logo to building a simple search engine with Python and MySQL. Although the database seems small at the moment, tutorialicio.us is focused on a little niche market that loves to show and tell.

FreeComputerBooks.com

Free Computer BooksFreeComputerBooks.com has many free resources clumped into compact pages, so you so whiz through them quickly to find what you want. The site is ad supported but most of the content I found actually was free. There are links to many tutorials, books, articles, and other resources online that may be of use to programmers, database developers and such. I found a good article on AJAX that contained some info I needed for a project I am working, so my visit to the site proved useful. Only one link I clicked on went somewhere to buy a book, but the rest I clicked on were free resources, FYI.

A bunch of good PHP tutorials

From time to time I go looking for a good PHP tutorial to do something new, or just to polish up my hacking skills. I hit all the usual sites, but they get old after a while. Some tutorials they have are good, but others are just boring and not useful. I sometimes just want a new place to find a nugget or tidbit of knowledge. GoodPHPTutorials is just one such out of the way destination that has a bunch of well, good PHP tutorials. In addition to the appropriate title, the site has tutorials in many categories, some on PHP framework Cake, tutorials on email functions, database, sessions, and other basic topics. The tutorials aren't hosted on this site, but are simply links to other sites with good content. The tutorials I found were many decent ones I hadn't seen elsewhere. If you are looking for a new tutorials to read up on, you might find some new stuff here. FYI...for some reason the Google ads on this site tend to float a little in Firefox, but beyond that it functions well.

Share advice, wisdom and knowledge with Videojug

videojugVideojug is a service that lets users share information. However, it's sharing information in an extremely intuitive way: Sharing through the use of videos. It's a really neat concept that I'm sure will take off pretty nicely given its sometimes funny approaches.

Take for an example, a video recently posted on how to make naan bread. The user has put together a nice little directional video on how to actually make it. It's a visual help guide, helping get points across easier, and with a little more explaining and nice visuals. Videos can be uploaded, tagged and searched which makes it extremely easy to find what you need help on. Each video also has a feedback form, text version, and iPod and PSP formats. Current sections on Videojug include Food, Drinks, DIY, Home, Beauty, Health, and Leisure. Each with a nice drop down list of sub topics.

There are some really interesting videos here too. Besides making nann, you can watch videos on applying bronzer, How to remove a foreign object from the ear, and How to unblock a toilet.

SketchUp video tutorials

SketchUp tutorialsSo you've played with SketchUp a bit and know you like it, but don't know what to do with it? This has been me as of late. I have wanted to know more about SketchUp and how to do some more complex modeling. On my inquisition, I quickly found a storehouse of knowledge to fuel my SketchUp frenzy. SketchUp offers a bunch of great video tutorials that can be downloaded as well as streamed. Perhaps I am late to this party, but no one else I have talked to who knew what SketchUp was knew they existed either. For those not in the know, I am getting your party started right now. The tutorials cover almost every drawing or modeling technique the beginner to intermediate Sketcher-upper would want and need to know. If you can't figure out how to do something in SketchUp, the method is probably covered in the videos. They load quickly and are very clear on how to do things. I felt like a guru when I left the video section of the site, having learned all my mind could hold for the day (I like my overload, thank you). Want to overload your noggin with SketchUp info, check out the videos. Enjoy with your favorite beverage.
