Pirate Translation for those of you who don't speak pirate

Pirate Translator
Here at Download Squad we've known that International Talk Like a Pirate Day was coming. So we've been practicing our pirate talk. But, if you haven't, check out the Pirate Translator from Pirate Monkeyness so you can talk like a pirate too.

All you have to do is type in your normal message, hit translate and shiver me timbers, your words are turned into pirate-speak. You can choose varying degrees of swashbuckling for your translation so it can be light, peppered or doused with pirate-y interjections.

There are several options for pirate translation -

SeaFight for when you want to play like a pirate - Time Waster

Sea Fight
Finding a good pirate game is not easy. You know, where you can sail around in your pirate ship killing sea monsters and flying the jolly roger and all that good stuff.

SeaFight is an ok pirate game. It's even pretty decent for a free game. Once you get the hang of it and have enough ammunition, you can have a lot of fun. And once you move up a few levels and you can fight other pirates, it's way cool.

First and foremost, make sure you pick a good pirate name when you choose your user name. Try this pirate name generator if you are out of ideas. Once you are all logged in click Take Me to the Battle and start harpooning sea monsters and attacking ships.

When you run out of ammunition you have to log out from the battle map and go back to the main screen. You can bid on ammunition in the bazaar, upgrade weapons and purchase ammunition in the weapons tab, pick up quests in the pub or upgrade your ship in the shipyard.

You can join a crew, or become part of a guild. All the general role-playing game stuff is there. Play for free or upgrade for a premium account. The free stuff should keep you busy for a few days at least. Til all your pirate urges wear off. So, check out SeaFight and play like a pirate today!

Download Like a Pirate Day

Watch carefully.. I'm about to talk like a pirate.

Arrh. Avast. Shiver me.. oh forget it.

It's officially "Talk Like a Pirate Day" the world over. Talking like a pirate is kinda lame. It's been done. It's so 2004. Since we've had it up to here with co-workers and their clever attempts to recreate a pirate past that never was a cute or cuddly as the fantasy pirates of today, we decided to go a different direction.

Welcome to Download Squad's "Download Like a Pirate Day". It's just like that other day except, well, lot's and lots better. We'll keep you fat and happy throughout the day with ways to download your fill, even ways to feel like a pirate without breaking any copyrights.

Check out some of our recent posts on burning up your bandwidth and watch throughout the day for more great ideas to keep you downloading like a pirate.

Ninja Loves Pirate - Today's Time Waster

Ninja Loves Pirate
I've never made a very convincing pirate, even on International Talk Like a Pirate Day, but like you I can enjoy a hearty "yarr" now and again. What I enjoy even more, though, is Ninja Loves Pirate, a gorgeous side-scroller for Windows in which you play the dual roles of (wait for it) stealthy ninja Ichiro and dread pirate Blackbeard, who must battle their way through (wait for it) evil zombies and robots. I'm not even kidding. Blackbeard and Ichiro each have their own special moves and skills, and the characters, enemies, and environments are composed of lush 16-bit-inspired graphics and excellent animations. The game does have a manual, but it's hidden on the Ninja Loves Pirate web site. Unfortunately only a demo is currently available, but it's challenging and satisfying to play, and I don't recommend you miss it. Matey.

Know any good pirate-themed time-wasters? Post them in the comments and I'll add them to this post.

Forumwarz - a potentially offensive time waster

I pwn UAfter spending the better part of an hour on Forumwarz I still can't decide if it's just sick or if it's kind of fun. It's a bit like a car wreck on the highway. I know I shouldn't be looking but I can't quite turn away.

It's sick, it's twisted, it's the internet on it's worst level and darn it, it's kind of fun. At least for a little while.

Forumwarz is a parody role-playing game that takes place on the internet - or at least the Forumwarz version of it. Your goal is to complete missions that are given to you through a mock up of GoogleTalk called Sentrillion.

Your first "friend" is ShallowEsophagus who begins giving you missions to pwn various forums by being a troll. Depending on the character type you are assigned at start up, you have tools like drooling on the keyboard or bashing your head on the keyboard that you can use to destroy forum threads and eventually, pwn a forum.

Future missions involve buying illegal software from the Russians, pwning more difficult forums and other internet oddness.

Completing missions gives you cash, called Flezz in game, and items that you can pawn or use in other missions. The game is NOT for those easily offended. It's crass, coarse and there are frequent f-bombs in the fake chat sessions.

This is also a game for a more mature audience as it requires you to shop at the Drugs R Fun store to get various concoctions to improve your playing, engage in certain cyber activities to get more Flezz and just generally use a more adult perspective.

If you can get past that, here are the more enjoyable and time-wasting aspects.
