Yoda's out to kick some butt in Path of the Jedi - Time Waster

My 4-year-old son is completely enamored with all things Star Wars right now, so when we stumbled across Path of the Jedi on Cartoon Network's web site the other day he just about fell off his chair in excitement.

In addition to playing as Yoda, you can also wield your saber as Ahsoka or Anakin, and there are three episodes to play: Shadow of Grievous, Assassin's Snare, and Ambush on Vassek. Each one is fairly massive, so be prepared to wait for about a minute the first time you play.

As you play, you'll pick up new force abilities - just keep an eye on your meter, or you may wind up powerless at a critical moment. Grab glowing spheres as they appear to boost energy, health, or gain extra lives. There are plenty of nefarious enemies to dispatch, and Yoda's dash is pure awesome.

Nothing like killing a little time with a few Jedi mind tricks!

Satan's Hollow - classic Time Waster

Satan's Hollow - classic midway arcade timewasterThis classic 1981 shooter from Midway is the perfect way to spend down time between trick or treaters this Halloween (especially if you keep the candy within arms reach).

The addicting game play is pretty standard 80s arcade action. Even if you have never played Satan's Hollow before, the controls should be familiar if you've been around any of the host of similar shooters from the Reagan years. You basically move your tank around and shoot stuff: bats, fire breathing devil heads, pitchfork throwing devils, acid throwing devils, etc. You can upgrade your cannon by completing a bonus round and there is a special shield feature which gives you quick protection if the bad guys get too close. Watch out that the bats don't steal your extra life though.

Oh, and if all that wasn't enough, amongst all this carnage you'll have to steadily work on building a bridge across the lake of fire to get to each bonus round. It is down right biblical.

Google Toolbar to be bundled with Adobe Shockwave Player

Google ToolbarSearchEngineJournal is reporting that Google has stuck a deal with Adobe to have Google Toolbar bundled with every install of Shockwave Player for Windows, and bundling with other Adobe products will begin in the near future. Adobe says that this won't affect the bundling that it's already doing with Yahoo! Toolbar, which presumably means when you install Shockwave Player you'll be given the option to install either, both, or neither. Google has been distributing (a Yahoo! Toolbar-less) Adobe Acrobat Reader since January, but apparently the Google Toolbar bundling is an unrelated financial deal.

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
