Browzar covers your tracks on the web

BrowzarParanoid? Really paranoid? Browzar might be for you. Browzar lets you "search and surf the web without leaving any visible trace on the computer you are using." When you quit Browzar, it completely erases your tracks--history, cache, cookies, everything. It also eliminates auto-complete on text fields. What's more, Browzar is a tiny (264kb) portable app, so you can take it with you on your USB drive (or, heck, a floppy disk), for safe browsing in internet cafes, public libraries, or your parents' house. Oh, and it's free and available for Windows, with Mac OS X and Linux versions coming soon.

Check out some screenshots of Browzar, courtesy of DLS blogger Chris Gilmer, after the jump.

Why Don't You Have a Yahoo! ID?

Yahoo!Several months ago I recommended to a group that we use Yahoo! Groups to set up a mail list and group communication site. A few in the group rolled their eyes and with a great deal of emotion said something to the effect of, "That means you have to set up a Yahoo! ID and then tolerate all the xxxx that comes with it." I was stunned. The "what" that comes with it? I've had and used the same Y! ID since the late 1990's and haven't had any stuff to put up with.

People have several different IDs to access their accounts at gmail, digg, technorati, webshots, bloglines, goowy, etc. Isn't there value to having one ID that accomplishes all that (Y! Mail, Y! Photos or flickr, MyYahoo!, MyWeb, etc.)

There are those who don't or won't bother to change their marketing settings (which you use to opt in/out out of third-party offers and Yahoo! communications). I would guess those folks see "unsolicited" email that they weren't expecting nor want.

What are the reasons that keep you from getting a Yahoo! ID?

Private bookmarks for del.icio.us

del.icio.usI can't imagine that any feature has been requested by del.icio.us users more, or for longer, than private bookmarks. Sure, it's a social bookmarking services, but it's a drag when you want to bookmark something just for you and have to go elsewhere to do it, and at long last, private bookmarks have been added to del.icio.us. The feature's still in beta, so if you want to use it you'll have to manually enable it under the "private saving" link in your del.icio.us settings.

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
