Windows 7 upgrade pricing leaks, and it's damn cheap

Our good friends at Engadget have gotten their hands on yet another tasty Windows 7 leak, though this time it's not just another marginally interesting build update. This time it's upgrade pricing information courtesy some careless generous Best Buy employee.

The presell cost to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium will be a paltry $49.99 and the Professional Upgrade will run $99.99. That's a pretty clear statement that Microsoft is going to be aggressive with Windows 7 pricing.

It's unlikely that Best Buy would be using an Upgrade OS as a loss leader, but we'll have to wait for more official news before we can call this one confirmed.

Long Zheng has crunched the numbers against Vista pricing, and estimates that the upgrade prices could translate to retail prices of $99.99 for Home Premium and $149.99 for Professional.

Let's hope the leak is accurate. Rock-bottom upgrade pricing would certainly be a nice olive branch to hand unhappy Vista users.

According to the memo, the presale mayhem begins on June 26th at BestBuy.com.

Sharpcast cuts its price in half before its half price promotion ends

SugarSync
Sharpcast's SugarSync provides one of the most complete solutions we've seen for keeping your files synchronized across computers, mobile devices, and the web. The service was free while in beta, but we were a bit turned off by the pricing, once it was announced, with prices ranging from $50 a year for 10GB of storage space to $500 for 250GB. At a time when many companies are offering 5GB or more of online storage space for free, that seemed like a bit much, even when you take the synchronization service into account.

Fortunately, Sharpcast allowed beta testers to sign up for 50% off. And now the company has extended that offer to all customers. So now you can sign up for as little as $25 per year or pay as much as $250 per year, depending on your needs. That seems a bit more reasonable.

Google offers new referrals pricing for AdSense and AdWords

While some may debate how useful AdSense can be as a revenue generating tool for a blog, a recent update to Google's referral structures of both AdSense and AdWords might help matters.

AdSense received enhancements both large and small:
  • When a publisher who signed up for Google AdSense through your referral earns their first $5 within 180 days of sign-up, you will be credited with $5.
  • When that same publisher earns $100 within 180 days of sign-up and is eligible for payment, you will be credited with an additional $250.
  • If, in any 180-day period, you refer 25 publishers who each earn more than $100 within 180 days of their respective sign-ups and are all eligible for payout, you will be awarded a $2,000 bonus (bonus payouts are limited to 1 per year).
About that last bonus, however, I agree with Ivan Raszi at creativebits:

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
