Supreme SuperGamer packs tons of Linux gaming onto a dual-layer DVD

While you might not be able to play all the latest major release games on Linux, there are still plenty of excellent games that will work on the OS. I ran down 25 cross-platform titles a while back, many of which began as Linux-only games.

Want an easy way to try out a whole slew of 'em? Take the Supreme SuperGamer distro for a spin.

It's built on top of Vector Linux, a speedy little Slackware-based distro. What games are included? There's Doom 3, Quake Wars, Urban Terror, Soldier of Fortune, Postal 2, Nexuiz, America's Army, Torcs, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Unreal Tournament, Chromium B.S.U., Frets on Fire...and a whole lot more.

The ISO download is for a dual-layer DVD, so you'll need to have a compatible burner and the right media handy. If you're underquipped or just don't feel like torrenting 7+ gigs of data, you can pick up a DVD from On-Disk for $15.99.

note: screenshot is from an older version. my download hasn't quite finished yet...

Send paper mail online with EasyPost

send paper mail online with easypostStill have some friends who aren't hooked up with email yet? Maybe your Grandparents or Parents are a little behind the times? Or maybe you just want to send some paper to someone?

EasyPost has opened the doors and made it possible for anyone to send paper letters to any mailbox in Canada via a simple online form. The letters that are submitted through the online form gets printed out via high quality laser printers and premium white paper, packaged up and sent out at the end of each day in regular mail through the Canada Post system. Quite a promising system for Canadians who want an alternative to sending postal mail, but don't want the hassle of printing and running out to buy stamps and envelopes.

EasyPost is free for a limited time and available anywhere in Canada.

Similar to the Postful service.

Go old school, send postal letters with email using Postful

send postal emailsLet's take a step back in time, no wait lets just stay in the present...

Email, post, email, post. Who's kidding who, why would we dream about sending a letter in the post and have to pay for postage when we can just send an email? How much do stamps cost nowadays anyways? And where exactly is the closest postal outlet? It seems like there is no sense in arguing over the fact that email is the best communication method these days, why would we ever think about sending a letter through the postal service? But, what about if you didn't have email?

Posful is betting on the fact that many people still don't use email, (apparently 65 million Americans) and that we know people who can't receive any. So the team at Posful has come up with a solution to bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds. Send an email to a special unique address with the subject line as the mailing address, and its gets outputted into a printed piece and mailed out at the other end. Total cost, $.99 for one page full color, printing, mailing and postage included.

It seems like a great offering if you have connections that don't have an email address. By taking the trip down to the postal office right out of your task list it ensures you don't neglect those sitting at home without a connection to the World Wide Web.

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
