Wavexpress retires TVTonic online video service

TVTonic
TVtonic is a Windows application for finding, watching, and downloading online video. The software can be integrated with Windows Media Center, which makes catching episodes of RocketBoom just as easy as recording episodes of The Office. But for financial reasons, Wavexpress, the company behind TVTonic has decided to retire the service.

If you've already installed TvTonic, you can still use it as a video podcatcher by subscribing to RSS feeds. And the download link for the Windows XP version of TVTonic still works, but the download link for the Windows Vista version appears to be dead.

Pocket Podcasts - A Windows Mobile Podcatcher

Pocket PodcastsPocket Podcasts is an open source podcatcher application for Windows Mobile powered Pocket PC and Smart Phones. Being a member of Podcast Listener Anonymous (as well as Downloaders Anonymous) when I heard of this application today I went and downloaded it straight away. I may not be able to fully review this for a few days until my 2gb MiniSD card I purchased this morning arrives. Well I could not wait and decided to start playing with the application now and hope I have enough room to test it out.

Read my full review after the jump.

PwopCatcher - Podcatcher by Carl Franklin

Carl Franklin, the man behind Franklins.net development training, and the DotNetRocks and Mondays podcasts has released an alpha version of his podcatching software, called PwopCatcher. Sporting a funky UI and a focus on usability, Carl is replicating some of the functionality you can create using iTunes and smart playlists to make it easy to copy only podcasts you haven't listened to to your player. PwopCatcher also supports podcasts distributed via BitTorrent by integrating with the very popular uTorrent BitTorrent client. Of course, when software is dubbed "alpha", it means that it's almost certain there will be issues with it. But if you're a very early adopter and in search of a tool to help manage the podcasts you are downloading, you might like to give PwopCatcher a try.

Graveyard Shift - zombie-busting Time Waster

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet. They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...
