Looking for a portable web browsing device, but not a fan of the iPod? Nokia's
N800 Internet Tablet sells for less than $400 and comes with a version of the Opera web browser. Not good enough? How about a
Mozilla-based browser with many of the same features included in Firefox?
The
maemo development team has released a new open source browse engine for N800 units running the Internet Tablet OS 2007. The browser supports AJAX, Adobe Flash 9, and RSS previews.
There's also support for add-ons. Although you can't simply install Firefox add-ons, developers can port existing extensions to work with the new browser.
