iTunes wins again, Metallica caves

Metallica on iTunesFour albums hit iTunes just recently. All four of them are from Metallica. Apparently and allegedly too many people were buying digital downloads from other bands that Metallica just felt as though they were missing the party. C'mon, let us in, we want to sell our songs too. The digital download squad (all the music fans out there) have been too convincing for even the bands who are holding out to decide to finally get in the game. Check out The Digital Music Weblog's (TDMW) take on this written by Download Squad's own Grant Robertson. Looking at the numbers, I don't know why you would resist potential thousands or even millions of downloads of your music, but then complain about people stealing your music in the same breath. I know why bands would want to hold out and not give in to the "new wave" of music because its new and scary, but honestly it is in their best interest to join the revolution. Releasing your music to iTunes basically guarantees you a big chunk of money if you are a band of any noteriety. Metallica is a band that everyone has heard of, so this is a good move for them, the record company, and the fans. Chalk another one up to iTunes. Resistance is not futile, but pretty close. Rock on.
