Notifu: group messaging to help you make plans

If you've ever been in the situation of trying to make plans with a group of people who are all communicating via different methods (SMS, IM, email), then you know how much of a pain it is to keep track of what everyone is doing. Notifu tries to make it easier, with a web app that can send messages to your friends via email, IM or text message, and let you know when they've received them.

On Notifu, you can set up a contact list, complete with groups. You can also set up polls, so your friends can text back a single number to indicate what they prefer to do, and Notifu will count them up for you. Notifu's developers are also very savvy about web platforms, with an iPhone web app available and an OpenSocial app in the works.

Task tracking with HiTask

hitask gets stuff done with a little fun?

HiTask is an online based task management tool that collects tasks, groups them and applies colored tags so users can easily review them. The HiTask interface is built with an easy to use drag and drop calendar to schedule items and reshuffle or prioritize them as needed. Tasks can also be rearranged in groups or projects for added organization.

The scheduling of meetings, reminders or notes can be setup by dragging and dropping their instance onto a calendar and dragging instances down based on how much time is required. Colors can be assigned to tasks to highlight important tasks or categorize them. HiTask can also be used in a team environment by inviting members and easily assigning those tasks by dragging them onto the individual's name.

The interface is very clean, and it's simple to use, there is no learning curve here that's for sure, and the drag and drop feature makes it easy to organize. Now, is it fun? I wouldn't call it fun, but it is pleasant to use. If the free plan isnt enough for you, there is also a Premium account available for $12 U.S. per year that allows for unlimited everything.

Zoho Meetings keeps you at your desk

zoho meetingZoho, the online productivity software company, has announced the latest member of their suite of products, Zoho Meeting. Currently in a private Beta, with full version due out in April.

Through Zoho Meetings, users can schedule meetings, share desktops, and chat between all invitees. As of the beta, only those that are on PC's can host meetings, but anyone can view them as long as they have Flash or Java running installed. Meetings can also be embedded into blogs or websites, how's that for web 2.0 at its finest, run an all day meeting for your blog or website visitors without scrolling or clicking. Zoho Meetings plays nicely with Zoho's other apps as well. For instance, users can plug a Meeting inside a presentation so that it will automatically launch when done, without opening up other applications. How's that for productivity. Will it impress business users? We'll just have to wait until we get a chance to try it out.

Do we smell another possible acquisition deal for Google here?

Check out a video of the new features after the jump...

Doodle: Schedule meetings by committee

DoodleSometimes scheduling meetings and get-togethers sucks. The difficulty of finding a date and time that works best for everyone increases exponentially with the number of people involved. Doodle aims to simplify things. It's a simple web-based polling app that lets you list possible dates and times for an event and then survey all of the interested parties. When you create a poll, you're given a link to send to everyone--no sign-up required!--and another link to keep track of the results. Those you invite just enter their name, click on the dates that work for them, and submit. Doodle then tells you which date and time works best and how many people can attend then. Fast, free and easy!

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
