Download unlimited music to your phone via MusicStation Max handsets

omnifone musicstationThe UK's Omnifone will be the "first" company to offer unlimited, free music to all mobile handsets branded with the "MusicStation" name. LG will be the first to release a MusicStation Max phone, which will become available in the first half of 2008 to European and Asian-Pacific regions.

The new phone, announced at the World Mobile Congress, will likely include a touchscreen plus a pull-out keyboard (to hopefully compliment a decent amount of flash memory). What's unlimited music worth if you can't actually download it?

Omnifone's music selection includes about 1.6 million songs from the four major labels and other countless smaller record companies. Also, if you happen to snag one of these but happen to drop it in a pool, don't worry! Omnifone keeps a list of all the music you downloaded if you happen to damage your handset.

Connect, Discover, and Inspire at the Adobe MAX Conference

Connect, Discover, and Inspire at the Adobe MAX Conference

Looking for a conference to polish your year off? If you are a regular user of Adobe products like Photoshop, Flash and Illustrator, the Adobe MAX event could be for you. But you have to empty your pockets first.

Adobe MAX is an event targeted at Adobe users that aims to connect them with other users, discover what can be done with the applications, and inspire others to create. The conference will being an opportunity to meet other users and grab some sneak peaks at what's coming out of Adobe next. There will be training on Adobe's products and solutions, and networking events. Speakers for the North America event include Grant Skinner, Mike Chambers and Erik Natzke.

MAX will be held in North America, Europe and in Japan, and cost a fortune. $1,295 US for general attendance, so make sure your company will spot you. Students, there is an educational discount, but its only $200 off. A one day pass can be purchased for $595, which is still rather pricey.

MicrosoftMax

Microsoft MaxLooks like Redmond has the interns on xerox duty again. Microsoft has just announced MicrosoftMax, a codename project that looks to be taking on both Google and Apple. The main component of MicrosoftMax is a desktop news aggregator featuring MSN Filter with similar functionality to Google Homepage or NetVibes. A secondary piece of the software package is a photo organizer which looks to be a Microsoft version of iPhoto. Not much else is known about the package, including whether the final product will be free of charge or a pay-for add on.

One thing I find compelling about Max is the fact that it displays news items in a newspaper layout; something that other news readers have been trying to do successfully for a while now.

MicrosoftMax is available as a free beta download and requires Windows XP or MediaCenter with SP2 or higher.

Video tour of Microsoft Max

Microsoft MaxI'm no great lover of Microsoft, but I will say that their Channel 9 blog always has something interesting, if a bit lengthy (where's the highlights reel, guys?), to watch. Yesterday they posted another video from Robert Scoble with the developers behind Microsoft's Codename Max, an interesting photo organizing/sharing app that we've reported on before. It's interesting to look over the developers' shoulders and hear them talk frankly about the product. A beta of Max can be downloaded from Microsoft (it got an update in December, including an improved installer if you had trouble the first time around), but requires Service Pack 2.

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
