Unintelligencer Maeks U Rite Dum - Time Waster

The Unintelligencer is full of win. Go there and make yourself sound dumb.
It's always nice to have a good laugh during an otherwise stressful workday, and what's more fun than laughing at outright supidity?

The Unintelligencer uses an array of sophisticated linguistic algorithms to convert your text from perfectly suitable English into the unrecognizable drivel you've gotten used to seeing on YouTube, Facebook, and all your other favorite sites.

Let's try an example from a favorite movie of mine: "i haved an wonderful girlfriend linda. 2gethr wee drove too small cabin ins da mountains. t seems an archeologist hads kum tew dis remote place 2 translate + study him latess phidn: necronomiconexmortis. thee book uv de ded."

Oh, the good times you'll have with this. Send that important departmental memo as a Moron, or shoot the moon and render it Incomprehensible. Unintelligencer offers 5 subtle shades of idiocy!

It's web based, so users of any operating system can utilize this fantastic - and unbelievably useful - tool. I'd like to see a reverse translation so I can finally understand what the hell some of these lolcat people are talking about.

I uses Poodz. Srsly. 'Scuse mah French, plz.

I can has Poodz screenshot. KthxbyeForgive us, great Ceiling Cat. We discovered the only way you can even attempt to introduce a service called Poodz is to use LOLspeak. And even then... we're totally fearing for our mortal souls.

Poodz (oh come on, stop giggling) is a microblogging service. Clear on that? Yeah, we weren't entirely sure what microblogging was either, but since a few of us here are pretty short, we decided to check it out..

Turns out there are no height restrictions with a microblog. Truth be told, we still don't really know what a microblog is as opposed to a plain ol' videoblog. That's what Poodz is, when it's all boiled down.

It's kind of a Twitter-esque, YouTubey, Facebook-infused service. It's kind of like Seesmic in a way. Well, actually, in a lot of ways. From country of origin to general functionality and concept it is, there's no denying, a lot like Seesmic.

LOLCats
We don't know whether this is more an indicator of some hacker's bountiful free time or of the popularity of exploiting cats and kittens for cheap laughs online. Either way, we think it's gnarly. A user of the photo-sharing, feline-themed web site LOLCats.com has built a programming language using the preferred dialect of LOLCats users: which is a cross between toddler talk and l33tspeak. The formula for LOLCats photo captions is to apply this odd way of writing, and the result is usually hilarious. Ie. my "kugfu" iz stronger.

Inspired by such sayings as "do you want karate" and "I'm in ur chair ignorin ur seetin reqwirmnts", the .NET language is called LOLCat. Take a look at this code snippet:

IM IN UR LOOP
IZ APPLE BIGR THAN CHEEZBRGR
BTW comment here.
YARLY
DIAF 1 "Can I haz apple plz"
NOWAY
DIAF 1 "Can I haz cheezbrgr now"
KTHX
[....]

Who knows? LOLCat might end up bigger than Java.

Learn to speak like a lolcat (you know you want to)

Unless you've been living under a scratching post lately, you've probably heard of lolcats and the shiny craze it has inspired. Visitors to I Can Has Cheezburger?, the website that started it all, often converse with each other in lolcat-speak, and some of the more rabid fans even use it when texting or instant messaging their significant others. Or, um, so we've heard.

Anyway, if you're not fluent in lolcat-speak but want to have some fun with other lolcat-fanciers, Speaklolcat can help. It's a web-based translator that helps turns any English phrases into lolcat language. For example:

Lolcats are in your world, planning your domination

becomes

Lolcats r in ur wurld, plannin ur dominashun

Though it's fun just to play around with, the lolcat translator is also handy tool for creating captions to put on your own cat photos. If you want to eventually move beyond the translator, you can always learn LOL-Kitteh as a second language. Kthxbai.

Graveyard Shift - zombie-busting Time Waster

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet. They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...
