Google social profiles at GTalk Profile

Google social profiles at GTalk Profile

GTalk Profile is a site for finding Google Talk related profiles that makes use of the recently launched Google Profiles.

GTalk Profile uses the Google Maps API to pinpoint locations of users worldwide. Each pinpoint has a link to a users Google Profile, including their interests, location and profile photo. The site is relatively young, but there are already over 7400 users that have chosen to include their GTalk profiles.

While checking in with the site over the past few days, it seemed that they might have an inadequate hosting plan. There were numerous instances where the site was either offline, or the map and profiles were not showing up at all. Since Google Profiles are on the move to becoming an emerging way to identify each other in a social setting, it might be time for GTalk Profile to rethink their data plans.

DLS Tip: Use a new Yahoo! account for Flickr

Whether you made the switch to using your Yahoo! ID on Flickr ages ago, or you simply stepped into rank with the rest of us on March 15th, you might find yourself at one point or another wishing you could change which Yahoo! ID you have tied to Flickr. You could beg Flickr support for some help, check out the forums to see if you aren't the only indecisive person to pull this stunt, or you could simply visit the recently redesigned account management section. We aren't sure how long it's been there, but a new pref section titled 'Your Yahoo! Account' offers a really simple process for changing the account you log into Flickr with. Easy breezy, and no waiting for customer service.

Google merges Writely and Spreadsheets

google docs and spreadsheetsGoogle has merged Writely, now known as Docs, and Spreadsheets together to form one super online office application. Ok, so it's not super yet, and it still does have some catching up to do with Zoho Office, but it's on the way.

Google Account users now have the benefit of creating, and storing documents and spreadsheets together in the new Docs and Spreadsheets service. Google has listened to users suggestions, and made this into a combined list, that works with the same ideas as Gmail with stars, tags, and searches. Sharing documents and spreadsheets is a breeze, simply choose the individuals you would like to collaborate with, and invite them to view. Google has added another feature here, which allows collaborators the ability to share your spreadsheets.

It looks like a hit so far. One easy convenient location to store all online documents, all under a Google Account ID. The real virtual office is on the way, even though this has not been rolled out for Google Apps for domains....the users that could really benefit from this service. Check out the newly launched Google docs and Spreadsheets blog and a little online tour for more information.

Check out some screenshots after the jump.

Jangl your way to a private mobile phone number

jangl secure mobile callsJangl lets you communicate with anyone, without revealing your mobile phone number, or exchanging it with anyone else.

How it works is that your 10 digit phone number is masked by a Jangl ID number. It's as simple as letting someone know your easy to remember Jangl ID. No more remembering crazy 10 digit phone numbers when you don't have a pen lying around.

The Jangl service provides two way privacy, whereas both numbers on the mobile call are kept private at all times. Jangl gives users a unique 10 digit number for each relationship you have. When calling a number, the phone number that the other side will see will be the unique Jangl number that they have for you, ensuring that your privacy is secure. When you give out your Jangl ID, users visit jangl.com and enter the ID. The ID will create a special unique number that they will call you on. That person calling will only know you by that number, and you will only know that person by their unique number, allowing you to block it at anytime.

At the moment Jangl is in a closed beta, I have signed up, and will let everyone know how the service works. However, if anyone is currently using Jangl, let us know how it works in the comments.

Graveyard Shift - zombie-busting Time Waster

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet. They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...
