Google Mobile Ads

google mobile adsYou feared it, and now its here. Google Ads on mobiles. Google's new mobile ads are shortened versions of AdWords that will appear when users search from Google on mobile devices. The users then have the option of connection to an advertiser's business phone after clicking on the ad. The mobile ads will be limited to 12 or 18 characters per line depending on the language used, and the destination URL will appear on the third line. Currently, Google Mobile Ads are only available in the US, UK, Japan, and Germany. Only drawbacks for advertisers, no tracking ability, and they are only available to be bought by advertisers with a billing address in Japan.

UPDATE: Christian Cadeo in the comments has just informed us that he was able to set up Mobile AdWords being based in the US, with a US address.

Google MTV video ads

Google is hitting up Viacom's MTV Networks to try out some video ad testing using the network's content. The deal was sparked due to the recent great demand for online video through broadband connections.

Google will utilize two to four minute clips promoting the shows in their Video AdSense experiment. The mini ads will be clips of SpongeBob, Laguna Beach, The Real OC, and the MTV Video Music Awards.

Revenue generated from the clips will be divided between Google, Viacom, and the website that has chosen to carry the clips. The deal also sees full length episodes of MTV Network shows like South Park and Jackass available for download on Google Video for $1.99 each.

Google is partnering with XM Satellite Radio

google xm satellite radioGoogle issued a recent press release stating that they have reached an agreement with XM Satellite Radio.

The new deal with introduce advertising to the seven million subscribers of the XM service. The ads will run on XM's non music related channels through Google's dMarc media network.

Through this deal, Google Advertisers, including Google AdWords customers, will have an easy automated solution to reach XM radio's subscriber base.

Google Ads on Network Monitor Application

spiceworks network monitorCould serving ads to desktop applications really work? Will it not be annoying to the user? Well SpiceWorks launched a software product that monitors networks. Not only does this product have a simple download, it's free. And how does their company sustain and make some cash? By serving Google ads.

The administration console of SpiceWorks actually has Google ads. When the software is being utilized by the administrator, ads display for the specific item they are looking at, whether it be a printer, scanner, or other device.

Google Bench Ads

Pretty interesting stuff, but I highly doubt that Google is getting into the bus bench ad industry. Good laugh nonetheless.

Google click-to-play ads released in UK

google video adsGoogle dropped its video ads in the UK, as well as dropped a little pressure on television networks.

Outsiders see this move from Google both as a great step to more intuitive ads, and a pressured move towards the television networks space. The ads are currently being run in Canada, the US, and Japan, and have had great success in early testing. Since the ads are click to play, users have the option on whether they wish to view the ads or not, so as to not interfere with their online experience.

The pricing for these Google click to play ads can be set to a cost per impression model, or a cost per click model. The ads can also be highly targeted to specific sites.

Google moving forward with radio ads

google dmarc radio adsGoogle bought dMarc Broadcasting a while ago. They specialize in connecting advertisers and agencies with radio stations, using an automated advertising platform. Google is planning on turning this tool into a highly targeted and measurable advertising medium. Google has been working to meld dMarc and AdWords together, and the fist few signs of this union are starting to get out.

techtoolblog recently got notification about a survey and questionnaire Google is asking advertisers to fill out. The questions talk about this new service offering advertisers direct contact with radio stations, helping connect advertisers with creative and production talent for their radio ads. Advertisers are asked to rank the interest level they have with this type of service.

Other questions in the survey go into greater depth on generating radio ads, selecting stations, setting prices, and cost per performance. Google also asks the question on how likely it would be for advertisers to be interested in this product if it was offered through Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

So it sounds like Google is working to develop the whole dMarc Google AdWords integration, they just have to get a grip on who would be interested, and at what level they would be using the potential advertising medium.
