Since Skype has been down, many people have been forced to resort to other P2P applications in order to communicate and send files. And let's note even talk about going the dreaded email, landline telephone and SMS route. Think about AllPeers, BitTorrent, and GNUnet and brains start buzzing about all the other leading peer to peer applications out there.
