Invisible Hand - Firefox add on to help you find sweet deals

Trolling around on the web for the best deal is tedious and time consuming. Invisible Hand, an add on for Firefox notifies you of better prices on items you are searching on the web with a discreet interface. It's so discreet you have to search for it but if you see a green arrow in your status bar, you know it's there.

When you start shopping on Amazon or Best Buy, Invisible Hand will pop up a message indicating if the item you are searching is cheaper at another retailer. (The camera I was looking at was cheaper by 1 cent somewhere else according to Invisible Hand). Since they're in beta, you might not get a notification for every item you search as the Hand is still growing their product and retailer coverage.

Giftag puts all your wishlists in one place

Giftag screen
If you're into stuff like most of us are, you probably have a few online wish lists. I have two Amazon wish lists, and one each at Crate and Barrel and Target left over from my wedding. When people want to buy me something, they often ask where they should look.

Giftag is one way to eliminate that problem. In stall the simple Firefox add-on and use the button added to your toolbar to add things to your list. It is very simple.

Surf over to your favorite online gadget source, pick out what you want and click the Giftag icon. You are prompted to highlight the area of the item you want. A section at the bottom of the screens gives you options to add the item to different lists and include information like quantities or comments.

Once you have assembled your list you can share it with friends by entering their email addresses. With Christmas coming up this could be a very useful way to steer people in the direction of what it is you really want.

Firefox Universal Uploader

Firefox Universal Uploader
Uploading files to websites can easily become a chore if you do it enough. Heavy Flickr or YouTube users probably know this feeling as much as anyone else.

If you find yourself doing a lot of uploading, why not consider making the job easier on yourself? The Firefox Universal Uploader add-on for Firefox can ease your burden when uploading files, photos or videos to Flickr, Picasa, Youtube, Box.net, Facebook, Webshots or OmniDrive. Working just like most modern FTP clients, simply navigate to the folder containing the files you'd like to upload, and bounce them across to the destination.

Better Flickr : Firefox add-on of the day

Better FlickrIn the spirit of the amazing Better Gmail Firefox extension released by Gina Trapani comes the latest Lifehacker code: Better Flickr. Gina is a self-professed Flickr nut, so it was probably only a matter of time before she put something like this together.

There are an amazing number of Greasemonkey hacks and existing extensions to extend and improve on Flickr's built-in functionality. Gina's done a great job of honing on on the best ones, and including only those in her new extension.

For example, Better Gmail includes extra features that enable EXIF image information to show overlaid on an image if you leave the mouse pointer hovering on the image. There is a feature that adds more user links, and one that adds some rich editing capabilities to the text forms on Flickr. A couple more of the features include an instant magnifier, and one that turns the All Sizes link into a menu, so you can jump right to the size that interests you most.

Better Gmail requires Firefox on any operating system that will run it.

Coop prototype released

Last week we told you about Coop, an attempt by Mozilla labs to bring social networking to your web browser.

Now there is a prototype of Coop available to download as a Firefox add-on. The add-on is not what the final version will look like by far and is meant only as a way for interested parties to see what coop might look like when all is said and done. Currently the service only allows you to log into a Facebook account, but does allow you to share links, photos, and videos with your Facebook friends by simply dropping items onto their faces.

We gave the Facebook only version a try. The interface is very easy to use and it worked pretty well for sending things directly to Facebook friends. The problem of course is that not everyone has a Facebook account.

It's going to be interesting to see how this one develops, especially when Coop is able to handle users beyond the realm of Facebook.

Fullerscreen: Firefox add-on of the day

FullerScreen
You probably already know that Firefox has a "full-screen" mode. If you hit F11, the Windows taskbar will disappear, as will the very top toolbar in Firefox. This lets you squeeze a little bit more text onto your screen.

But you can do better. Nvu lead engineer Daniel Glazman has developed a Firefox add-on called FullerScreen. Once you install it, hitting F11 will make everything but the web page you're currently looking at disappear.

But wait, you say, I need my tabs and menu bars. Well, you could always just hit F11 to toggle back and forth between fullscreen and windowed mode. But if you move your cursor over the top of the screen, you'll see your toolbars and tabs. Ditto for the bottom of the screen.

Make Link : Firefox add-on of the day

We're not stupid, but we do enjoy keeping it simple. That's why we love Make Link, today's Firefox add-on. Make Link doesn't do everything, it just does one thing well; Make links.

Make Links adds a context menu item which will create either a simple forum style link or HTML link out of the currently highlighted text. If you spend lots of time gabbing away on forums and sharing links with your friends, Make Link will simplify your every day activities.

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire.
