Europeans battle against spam
We all get those annoying unwanted offers in our inboxes, well, the Europeans are starting the battle to bring their extremely high number down. If there are no improvement in the rates of spam coming in to inboxes, the European Commission will consider new legislative measures that will fight the up to 85% of emails that are unsolicited. Member states have been asked to increase their efforts to cut out spam and tame spyware and malware distribution. The European Commission is looking towards Holland's efforts at kicking the influx of unwanted email. Holland has a full-time staff of five and almost $800,000 worth of equipment that it has used to decrease spam and malware by 85% since the start of their program. The Commission is teaming up with the US, where 22% of all spam to the E.U. comes from. So, when do you think the spam rate will be down to 1%? My bet is on when we no longer communicate with email. Then spammers will move on to spamming our next form of communication.
