Time Waster - Fast140 aka "How Badly and Fastly can you type?"

So you think you can type fast, eh?

Not soooooooo fast. Here comes Fast140.

What is it you ask? Well, it recycles tweets from Twitter and turns them into a speed typing game. No longer will you be testing your speed to mundane and correctly spelled sentences like "The dog ran quickly.", now you get stuck with winners like the one pictured above.

Uhhh, I'm sorry what? I have to type........."Hero" by Enrique Iglesias? YES, I did. Ugh! Now that's a time waster my friends. And I loved every damn second of it.

This gem of an app comes via Philip Kaplan, aka "Pud", the fellow who brought us ummm....Effed Company. I can say Effed, right? I got the inside scoop by pinging him on Twitter naturally:

5 iPhone Apps and Updates for the Easter Weekend

If you're in need of some fresh iPhone suggestions this Easter weekend, here's a few awesome apps that have caught our eye or been recently updated. If I've missed your favourite iPhone app, be sure to share it in the comments!

1. Flight Control [$1 - iTunes Link]
Flight Control is a ridiculously-simple, yet super stylish game that tasks you with ensuring that a variety of aeroplanes land on their designated runways. Priced at $1 (at least for now) Flight Control is as addictive as it is slick, and it's got a permanent place on my homescreen.

2. Darkslide [Free with Ads, $3.99 without - iTunes Link]
I've spoken before about Darkslide, but if you're a Flickr fan and recently uploaded videos the the service, you'll love the recent update to Darkslide that lets you playback videos on your phone - great for showing friends and family a video that would have previously required a laptop to playback.

3. Trapster [Free - iTunes Link]
If you're travelling to see family this weekend, Trapster may come in handy. Trapster is a social network that allows users to share the location of speed traps, and their free iPhone app allows you to keep tabs on trap locations around the world on the go: super handy for avoiding an Easter weekend ticket.

4. Ego [$1.99 - iTunes Link]
If you're on the road and want to keep tabs on personal stats such as website visitors (or Twitter followers for the vain amongst you) Ego is for you. Beautifully designed, and with more services being added all the time, Ego is a user interface and web-stat junkies dream.

5. Bump [Free - iTunes Link]
There's a tonne of business-card exchange applications on the App Store. However the consensus in my unscientific tests (conducted, in the name of Download Squad, in the pub with some friends) is that Bump is perhaps the 'funnest'. You and a friend simply launch the application on your iPhones, select the contact details you're happy to share, and then 'bump' the two phones together. Through the magic of location data and timestamps, your vCard is sent, and your contact's vCard is added to your Address Book.

Bunny Invasion Easter Special - Time Waster

Bunny Invasion
Just in time for your Friday afternoon boredom, we bring you the Bunny Invasion: Easter Special. If you're tired of seeing cute bunnies, fluffy baby chicks and all the normal Easter crap this game is going to make your day.

As Mr. Frost, it is up to you to save the motel from the bunnies. You have a variety of weapons to choose from once you earn enough money to pay for them and the game, though slow at first, is pretty entertaining.

All you have to do is stand on the roof of the motel and pick off the bunnies as the come to attack. For the first 10 levels or so, this seemed less than challenging since the bunnies were moving pretty slowly. I held on to the starter colt .45 pistol - with unlimited ammo - for most of those levels, saving up for guns, ammo and motel repairs later on.

Once you pass level 10, things begin moving a lot faster and you definitely need an automatic weapon because the bunnies, well, they multiply like rabbits and move pretty quickly. The further you get into the game, the more often the shooters swear at the bunnies. You might want to keep the volume pretty low if you're at the office.

Go kill the bunnies now and get all that annoyance with Easter out of your system before you have to admire all those Easter baskets on Sunday.

Thanks DN!

Bunny Hunt - Today's Time Waster

bunny huntWhether or not you celebrate Easter, it's fun to shoot bunnies, right? Well Bunny Hunt lets you do just that. Don't tell my daughter though, she's determined to get a pet bunny. As a result, I can't play this with her around, but I could say that for about half of the games I play... Just a simple shoot-the-bunny-when-it-pops-up. You know, like whack-a-mole. Now where's the Pooh-themed version "Hunny Bunt" where you get to kick that bear's a**?

Graveyard Shift - zombie-busting Time Waster

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet. They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...
