Pack everything on your list with Packwhiz

If you're planning for summer travel, you might want to check out Packwhiz before you leave. It helps you generate thorough packing lists that will make sure you don't leave anything behind on your trip. Just check off some quick boxes about how you're traveling, what kind of weather you expect, and whether you're camping or staying in a hotel, and PackWhiz does the rest.

PackWhiz's lists aren't written in stone. If you need to add some kind of unusual item, or if you don't need to bring some the things it suggests, you can just make the changes manually. Packwhiz also lets you specify whether men or women will be going on the trip, which seems trivial, but it saves you the time of adding and removing gender-specific toiletries from your list. Sign-in is done with Google Accounts, so if you already have gmail, you can get started right away.

Printable Checklist is exactly what it says it is

Add Printable Checklist to your list of single-use web applications with incredibly straightforward names. In fact, go ahead and use Printable Checklist to make the list. It's almost ridiculously simple to use: add, delete, and rename are the only options. Sometimes bare bones is best, though. Loading up Printable Checklist in a browser is a lot faster than opening a desktop app like Word and formatting a new doc.

In terms of appearance, you don't really have options. A couple of ways to change the appearance of your checklist come to mind, though. If you're dead set on using a specific typeface, you can temporarily switch the browser's default font to the one you want, or you can use a plugin like GreaseMonkey to change the look before you print.

Checkvist: collaborate on checklists and outlines

Checkvist is a free, multi-user list-making site that's extremely easy to use. The signup is quick, you can make a new checklist with one click, and the keyboard commands are all listed down the right side of the screen. You can drag and drop, import and export checklists and collaborate with other users.

Checkvist is no OmniOutliner (or whichever other commercial outline software you like), but if your main concern is finding a fast, collaborative, web-based option, it will work for you.

The first thing I noticed about Checkvist is how intuitive the keyboard shortcuts are. Want to move something down in the hierarchy? It's tab, just as you'd expect.

If you don't want to do everything by keyboard, you can hold shift to drag-and-drop items. Adding notes is also easy, and they're clearly labeled so you can tell who added them to a collaborative outline. Overall, using Checkvist is a painless experience.

Checkser: a wiki for checklists

Checkser: wiki for checklistsCheckser is niche application of the wiki concept: users create/edit checklists for topics ranging from "What to look for when buying a home" to "Things to do before leaving for a vacation." The checklists are useable (you can click checkboxes to mark items), and editable anonymously or with an OpenID signature.

While editing a checklist, you can drag/drop list items in whatever order you choose. You can also provide a "Read More..." link in case you want to offer a preview of a more extensive list found elsewhere.

Like any good wiki, you can view the history of edits for the checklists. Our favorite list so far is the Web 2.0 checklist.

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
