Joost opens up API, get ready for some widgets

Joost opens up API, get ready for some widgetsGet ready for the newest widget platform on the market, Joost. They have just rolled out their API and opened things up for developers to make masterpieces that integrate with the P2P TV client application.

The launch of Joost's latest version 0.12.0 is a little overshadowed by the API introduction, which is the icing on Joost's cake. The somewhat hush hush announcement in the product forums of their website will open up the application to a whole new realm of developers who will go beyond what Joost has already done with their current RSS, chat, and clock widgets.

The official Joost API website is currently password protected.

NewCo ramping up to battle YouTube

NBC and News Corps NewCo shopping for financingNot happy with how YouTube deals with copyrighted materials, NBC and News Corp. have been on the move to create a joint venture that would crunch YouTube for what seems like ages. Now they are shopping around to raise cash for their currently unnamed product.

NewTeeVee has the scoop on the NewCo team hitting up VC's from New York to Silicon Valley to fund their venture, and reportedly looking to get at least $100 Million, on a $1 Billion valuation. So far, no luck on investments for, what was believed by these companies, to be a killer online video channel showcasing their own material.

Will this new company be able to come close to the popularity of YouTube? Chances are no. YouTube's traffic is increasing daily, and growing across all markets, while this new company is still having troubles even getting started.

What's the meaning behind Joost's IndyCar sponsorship?

joost indy sponsorshipJoost seems to be at the forefront of an explosion into public realm care of one of the worlds top ad locations, IndyCar. What does this mean? Is Joost really ready to go mainstream? If anything they just stepped up their marketing efforts this past weekend with a 7th place finish.

Joost -- the so-far leading IPtv application -- is getting pretty big in the "tech" world, with thousands of users logging in to check out the services offerings, if not tuning in on a daily basis. Could it be that this Web 2.0 service is ready to launch into the mainstream marketplace where armchair beer drinking sports fans tune in online to catch their favorite shows?

Earlier this month Joost and the IndyCar Series teamed up to broadcast races online, and have seen so much success that they are planning on adding more channels in short order. Joost currently has over 150 free quality channels of programming on its roster including Comedy Central, IndyCar, MTV, Warner Bros, National Geographic, and Reuters.

Everyone is getting into digital video distribution, including NBC

nbbc digital video distributionNBC Universal, and NBC affiliates have teamed up to fund >nbbc, a company that will distribute and profit from video footage online. Noticing a rapid growth in the digital video segment, NBC thinks it has the perfect opportunity to get its toes wet. NBC will be tapping all affiliate channels, and other media sources for materials for the new online venture. Through the use of a user friendly video player created by >nbbc, website publishers can easily drop content into their websites, enabling them to profit from new sources of revenue, and a growth in website visitors from the new offerings.

>nbbc will be profiting by digital video syndication, revenue sharing, and different fee-based models. Through the revenue model, advertising dollars will be split between >nbbc, the content licensor, and the web publisher. This is a unique approach by a large broadcaster, leveraging the content they are already producing to provide for more streams of revenue, and aiding in the growth of revenue for other web publishers by harnessing the power of Internet content.

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
