Gizmo's PC-to-PC calls for business

gizmo business callingBusiness callers now have a way to utilize free calling between co-workers in different locations worldwide. The Gizmo Project for business is a collection of features and services that is sure to save money for business without the cost of VoIP phones, or high rates through traditional phone lines.

With the business plan, users also have free voicemail, call forwarding, conference calling, and instant messaging that lets users immediately know who is online. There are Windows, Mac and Linux platform support, so no one is left out. With the addition of a plan called All Calls Free, users can also make free calls to landlines and mobile phones in the US, Brazil, European, and Asian countries.

To use the service, businesses have to fill out a form, and Gizmo will contact you. In the form, the business specifies the number of Gizmo accounts they are interested in, the credit amount they wish to apply, and how many numbers they will need.

Skype 2.0 beta Mac users can now video-call PCs

Skype 2.0 Mac betaSkype 2.0 beta now allows Mac users to call PC users and start a video conference. The previous version for Macs (1.5) did not support this type of communication. Mac users can make video calls inside the Skype application or expand it to full screen. I don't video conference with many people, but I do know many Mac users that it would be great to video conference with if I ever had the need. Not many cross-platform video conferencing solutions exist for free, so it is good to have something free that I can use, and because it's Skype, it will be a good quality call as usual.

UPDATE: This post is a dupe on the same topic as Chris Gilmer wrote about here. His post is the original scoop on this story, which I sadly overlooked. My apologies Chris.

Hullo: Versatile VoIP

HulloHullo looks very interesting. It's a VoIP service described as a "personal manager that will change the way you stay in touch." What sets Hullo apart from the likes of Skype or Gizmo is the way it can integrate your Windows-based "softphone," your cell phone, and your land line(s). How does it do that? When you set up Hullo, you enter your other phones' numbers, and then when someone calls you, Hullo will route the call as you please--if you're not at the computer, it can ring your home phone, then your cell, and so on. Somewhat more interestingly, you can set up different rules for different friends, so for example your best friend could be routed right to your cell phone, whereas your parents could be sent to voicemail. Not that you'd want to do that. Hullo also has a cool "Handoff" feature that will let you switch a call from one device to another, e.g. if you're talking on the computer and have to leave the house, you can seamlessly transfer the call to your cell phone. Hullo is currently in beta and all calls to North America are free.

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
