Create and share floorplans with Floorplanner

Create and share floorplans with Floorplanner

Whether you are a homeowner trying to best squeeze all of your new furniture into your new space, a student experimenting with different furniture placements, or just thinking about knocking out a few walls and creating a new space, FloorPlanner could be your space-planning answer.

This free application takes the pencil, drafting table, and the $150/hr architect out of the equation and lets everyday people create and play around with floor plans online. Floor plans are simple to create with a feature rich toolset of drawing tools and household items to place on plans. Users start off by creating living space walls, choosing flooring material, adding doors and windows, and dropping in furniture and electrical outlets. Walls can be moved, colors changed and furniture moved all with a simple click until the perfect plan is set. Floor Plans can then be saved, printed, shared with friends and eventually turned into a 3d space. (In testing mode and only available in Plus and Pro accounts.)

This free online floor plan creation tool is a joy to use. Its simple controls and clean layout make it easy to create rough layouts for all kinds of living spaces quickly. Users can get as creative as they wish, and quite possibly use this as a base design for architects, interior designers and construction trades.

Optimized Firefox 2.0.0.1 for G5 and Intel Macs

bonecho custom firefox build for g5 and intel macsAfter you unwrap your new Mac this holiday (or maybe found a great Boxing Day deal) be sure to install the very latest version of BonEcho, the G5 and Intel optimized version of Firefox.

The new builds also include:
  • an overhauled version of the aqua form widgets
  • the user agent has been changed so that the browser will identify itself as Firefox rather than BonEcho
To help Neil (the gentleman who creates these builds) avoid having to answer the same email over and over, please remember that the Firefox name and icon are copyrighted and cannot be used with non-official builds. These are non-official builds, so they cannot have the official branding (hence the BonEcho name and icon). However, if you read through the comments on this TUAW post, you'll get all the info you need to give BonEcho a total Firefox makeover.

Yahoo! Mail Beta gets a new build (v.0.3.2 Build 253.11)

So, here's my first post on Download Squad, hopefully some of our readers have followed our updates on the Yahoo! Mail Beta over on the Unofficial Yahoo! Blog...

The Y-Mail Group is buzzing this week with the release of a new build of the Y! Mail Beta. It looks like a minor update, bringing us to v0.3.2 Build 253.11.

As ever, the Y! Mail team has communicated nothing about this new build, so the the hunt is on to find out what changed.

For me, the biggest thing is the lack of a new Calendar - I'd love to see a new version before having to switch to a competitor...

Opera offering up weekly builds

OperaStarting this week, Opera Software is releasing to the public weekly builds of its eponymous web browser. The builds are intended to open up Opera's development process to the users and allow them "to be more involved at an earlier stage than when we ship the next public beta." Today saw the first such release in the form of Windows build 8219 and Mac build 3224.

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
