BillShrink now helps you find the best bank accounts, CDs

BillShrink Banks
BillShrink is a web service that helps you find the best deals on cellphone service, credit card accounts, and even the best gas prices. Since launching a year and a half ago as a wireless comparison engine, the BillShrink team has steadily continued adding new services. Now BillShrink has added bank accounts to its lineup.

In order to find the best savings accounts and CDs, you enter the amount of cash you have saved, an estimate of how much you expect to set aside each month, and where you live. You can also choose additional details like the services you need from a bank including online bill payment check writing, nearby ATM access and direct deposit.

Once you enter all that info, BillShrink will spit out a list of options for your area that should help you save money. For instance, BillShrink may recommend opening a new bank account or a bank account at one institution plus a CD at another.

BillShrink helps you find cheap gas on your way to work

BillShrink gas
BillShrink is a web service that helps you find ways to save money in various areas of your life. And the company keeps adding new features. At launch, BillShrink allowed you to find the best cellphone plan for your needs. Then came credit cards. Now you can use BillShrink to find cheap gas from stations near your daily commute.

When you click the Gas Prices button BillShrink will ask you to enter your home and work addresses and the make and model of your vehicle. Armed with information about your commute and your car's gas mileage, the service will search for the prices of gas at area gas stations and determine whether it's worth driving out of your way to fill up your tank.

You can also filter results by gas station brand, or amenities like ATMs, 24 hour gas stations, or stations that accept credit cards.

BillShrink now finds the best credit card for you

Bill Shrink
We've already told you about BillShrink's ability to lower your wireless bill. Now the company wants to help you find the best credit card deal for your spending habits as well.

Enter a few bits of information, like if you pay off your balance each month and how much you normally spend and BillShrink comes up with some options for you to look at.

You are presented with various credit cards, ranked in order of which will save you the most money versus your current card. Each card lists things like fees, rewards and interest rates.

The service is quick and useful and the graphs and information really help to show the differences between cards. It's nice to get all the information in one place and see actual numbers of how much money you could save with a different card.

Find the optimal cellphone plan with BillShrink

Billshrink

If you consider taking out a second mortgage on your home every month when the cellphone bill arrives, you might want to check out BillShrink. This web-based service lets you compare cellphone plans in the most useful ways possible. It shows you which plans can save you money and which companies provided the most reliable coverage in your neighborhood.

The toolbar at the top of the page lets you describe how much you're currently paying for service and then you can drag a few sliders around to show the number of lines, anytime minutes, text messages, and data minutes you need. BillShrink will then try to find a plan that matches your criteria for less than you're currently paying. If there's one that meets your needs and has a strong signal in your area, it will show up at the top of the list. If there's one with a weak signal in your area, it will move down the list a bit.

You can click on any plan to see additional details or to see comparable plans from other wireless carriers. And you can sign up for service, at which point BillShrink redirects you to the carrier's web site. The only problem we see with this service is that it doesn't account for local fees and taxes. So if you normally pay $95 per month for your phone service, you might accidentally input that value and see a whole bunch of bargains before realizing that your actual plan is closer to $75 while the rest is fees that would apply no matter which carrier you use. Not that we made this mistake the first time we checked out BillShrink. Nope. No siree.

The World's Hardest Game 2.0 - Time Waster

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
