Musicians unite with BandChemistry

bandchemistry social netowrkBandChemistry is a free social network built specifically for musicians to unite with fellow music lovers. Users can locate potential bandmates and fellow musicians to form a band or to meet fellow musicians and chat. Users can also listen to music created by fellow BandChemistry users, and upload their own to show off. The site also provides music industry news, email updates, and photos. A site discussion board lets users toss around ideas, tips, comments or special announcements. BandChemistry rolled out the site in the summer of this year, so it's still a small growing social network, but one that could definitely help out musicians on their journey of music creation.

Musicians, get the word out with Divvycast

divvycast podcast creationDivvycast lets bands, artists, producers and DJ's make money by using their service, and tools to bring their creations to the audience.

Divvycast supplies publishing and creative tools that publish podcasts in a professional manner, and hook them up to high traffic areas like iTunes and Yahoo to spread the word. The service is free for 15 days, plans start at $9.95. Divvycast's production application called ePodcast Creator, is available for Mac and PC users. Once your podcast gets all packaged up into a personal URL and RSS feed, Divvycast helps spread the word through their associations with different podcast channels like iTunes and Yahoo. Once sponsors are magically interested in your podcast, you can manage your campaigns though the Divvycast system, and include the ads at the beginning and end of the podcast.

You have nothing to lose when you are independent! You have to spread the word and show people your talent, and Divvycast might be able to help you out. Is it worth the $9.95/month, and will it get you advertisers? Maybe not. Divvycast should really look at a $30 application that can be downloaded and used with no restrictions as well. This might make it a little more appealing to users. That monthly fee hurts.

Jam with your musician friends around the world

The Home Recording and Instruments blog has news of a cool new software download for Mac and Windows that allows you to conduct musical jam sessions with your buddies on the Internet--in real time! This piece of software lets you use MIDI instruments--guitars, keyboards, and woodwinds--to collaborate on musical compositions from miles and miles away. Pretty cool stuff, especially if your guitarist lives in Florida and your drummer lives in Tokyo. Check out eJamming here.

Graveyard Shift - zombie-busting Time Waster

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet. They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...
