Witness the powers of mind mapping!

A mind map is a graphical representation of words or ideas that are linked around a central theme. Putting down your ideas on a mind map really helps to concentrate your efforts to ensure you stay focus. But while mind maps are generally helpful, assembling one on your computer may require a map of its own.

Instead of figuring out how to put one together yourself, text2mindmap has developed a site where you can enter in your ideas in an outline format and Text2mindmap will generate a fully interactive map. You can move the segments of the map around to see how each word or idea is connected to another.

The site is in beta and configuration options are limited to font, color and sizing. What would be nice for future updates, is the ability to download your map to some sort of self contained application that will allow you to retain all the interactive aspects of the map instead of the static image download option currently available.

MindNode: Map your mind and the rest will follow

MindNodeMindNode is a free app for Mac OS X that can be used to create clean, elegant concept maps like brainstorms, writing outlines, or timelines. Each maps starts with a main concept to which branch nodes can easily be added. Primary branches are colored differently so one's eye can easily follow a consistent path.

You can have multiple maps on the same "canvas" which can be helpful for comparing or contrasting ideas. Fonts and colors are customizable, and you can change the line stroke (solid, dashed, dotted). MindNode also lets you export your finished map to a .tiff or .pdf to share your brilliant ideas with the world.

Brainstorming made simple with Bubbl.us

Bubbl.us takes a healthy dose of Web 2.0 interactivity and applies it to brainstorming. Mind maps are a key tool of brainstormers and Bubbl.us lets you map to your heart's content right inside your browser. The simple-to-create bubble-chart mind maps help to visualize your inspiration on a central topic quickly and effectively. The whole idea is to do it fast, loose and to never spend time editing yourself; that comes later, as you flesh out a seedling idea.

The real gooey Web 2.0-ness comes in Bubbl.us' sharing features. By adding friends, you can share Bubbl.us maps and collaborate around topics from incredible distances. Think of it as passing your whiteboard back and forth across the Internet, without damaging the conference room.

Graveyard Shift - zombie-busting Time Waster

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet. They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...
