Second Life - GOP up to their dirty tricks

Interestingly, dirty campaign tactics are now de rigeur for virtual communites as in real life. The blogosphere is all a twitter about a recent defilement of John Edwards 08 headquarters in Second Life. It seems a group of Republican marauders vandalized the Edwards' campaign headquarters and even went so low as to put the candidate in blackface. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. When will those Republicans ever learn? This is going to ensure huge media exposure for the Edwards campaign for this week and maybe into next and might even replace poor Anna Nicole.

Sen. John Edwards uses Bittorrent

Senator John Edwards (D - North Carolina)Regardless of which side of the political fence you stand on, I'm sure we can all agree that we need more people in government who understand how the Internet works.

Sen. John Edwards, former running mate of John Kerry and possible 2008 presidential hopeful, was an early adopter of the podcast as a way to reach constituents. Now he's using Bittorrent to distribute campaign video.

Edwards, according to Torrentfreak uses Movedigital, a service that combines .torrent downloads with web-seeding. Movedigital acts as the main seed, but once there are enough seeds and peers around, the bandwidth bill for Edwards drops.

Say what you will, but Edwards is showing a level of tech savvy that, I think, gaggles of geeks have been waiting for. The Internet has become a part of every aspect of our daily lives, and Internet issues (P2P, DMCA censorship, net-neutrality) affect us all. Seeing a candidate who "groks" a legal and important use of P2P could make many geeks take a second look.

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do. Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game. The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...
