Paint abstract "art" with Flame - Time Waster
Flame is a cute little Flash toy I found over at MakeUseOf. It basically lets you run your mouse in semi-random patterns and claim it's art. Don't blame me for the image above; I plead color-blindness (and I have a trackball!)
The controls are surprisingly complex, letting you modify quite a few brush parameters. There is a complete help text at the bottom of the page, which you should probably read if you're serious about trying this tool, because you can actually get some pretty nice results with it.

Chromatic is one of the best time-wasters I've recently come across. It's all about the gameplay -- no Flash graphics here. You play a "circle" (it doesn't really have a name in the game). You move around with the arrow keys, and you change colors with Z, X, and C.

i would say that abstract art is the opposite of figurative art. Whatever the medium used, generally there are no recognisable figures or objects. Qute often the painting results from the artist expressing him/herself physically, as with Jackson Pollock. Sometimes such art comes from an ntellectual point of view - like in Bridget Riley's work, which is precis and controlled.
