Keep your World of Warcraft add-ons up to date easily with the Curse Client

You know from first impressions of the Curse website and download page that this is going to be one smooth app. The Curse Client sure has come on a long way since its early, ugly, clunky days. Now, with version 4, it has finally reached maturity. Sexy, sleek, easy-to-use maturity.

The Curse Client primarily manages your add-ons for World of Warcraft. It keeps them fresh and up-to-date with a simple double-click. (It can manage your Warhammer Online and Runes of Magic add-ons too, but does anyone actually play those games?)

The Curse Client does a lot of other stuff too, like synchronizing your add-ons across multiple computers -- but most importantly, it lets you backup your add-ons and settings! No longer will you be stuck up shit-I-have-to-re-install creek with only an empty add-on folder for a paddle.

Trust me when I say using the Curse Client is simple. There's a new wizard in v4 that walks you through all the basics if you've never used it before. It even automatically discovers your game's location on your hard disk.

Again, notice how pretty it is? They've extended the 'Web 2.0' thing to the client itself with a pretty reflection. Woo. Anyway, moving on: usability, as I mentioned, is really top-notch. There are multiple skins if you don't like the default. It automatically checks for software updates. It tells you when add-ons are out of date. Really, the only 'complicated' thing, if you can call it that, is that you have to register on the Curse site to use the program.

If you're used to the standard download-and-then-navigate-to-your-WoW-folder-and-unzip-the-add-on technique of installing World of Warcraft add-ons, the Curse Client is going to blow you over with a gale of fresh air. Not only can you install add-ons with a single click, directly from the Curse site, the largest repository on the Web, you can update your existing add-ons with just a double-click in the app. Furthermore, you can search for add-ons in the Curse Client itself -- you don't even have to open up a browser window to find the add-on you need!

All in all, along with Rawr, the Curse Client is one of those 'must have' WoW applications. It's also the kind of thing that many people might never have heard of -- heck, I bet lots of people don't even use add-ons! Hopefully, if you fall into the newbie category, this app will open up new and exciting opportunities for your WoWing. And if you're one of those haggard, old gamers that insists on unzipping his add-ons manually... get with it, man! Grab the Curse Client today! It's even FREE!

Chromatic is a color-coded platformer with a twist - Time Waster

Chromatic is one of the best time-wasters I've recently come across. It's all about the gameplay -- no Flash graphics here. You play a "circle" (it doesn't really have a name in the game). You move around with the arrow keys, and you change colors with Z, X, and C. You can either be red, blue, or yellow, and you can switch at any time during the game. Each color has different capabilities -- yellow can double-jump, while red has a longer dash (which is like a forward sprint, activated by double-pressing DOWN). Each ...
