Fix common Windows XP errors with portable XP Quick Fix Plus

Even though it's getting a little long in the tooth, plenty of PC users are still perfectly happy with Windows XP. Of course, that doesn't mean running Windows XP is always a trouble-free experience. It's got its fair share of issues. Thankfully, though, there are loads of great programs out there which make fixing little annoyances as simple as point-and-click.
Programs like XP Quick Fix Plus. The tiny, portable application launches a dashboard with one-click fixes for 40 common Windows XP problems. Quick Fix makes short work of irksome situations like a disabled task manager, missing Device Manager tab, and the infamous CD/DVD missing/not reading bug.
The program is essentially a collection of registry fixes, since that's where most of these problems originate. You might want to create a system restore point prior to running Quick Fix (or backing up your registry) just in case.
XP Quick Fix is a free, portable download and - not surprisingly - runs on Windows XP systems.

Believe it or not, Atari have just released a bunch of old games on their own website. These aren't clones, these aren't even 'loving interpretations' -- these are the real thing, remade by Atari themselves. This comes as part of a re-launch for the Atari website which includes an online store.
I warn you, if you read on, this might turn into more than just a mere ten-minute time-waster.

I'm one of those dinosaurs running XP, and I love it (in case anyone here wonders who's still running it...)
But fortunately, I've never had one of the problems listed above. None of them. In fact, I've never even heard of the problems that this app aims to fix. Thank goodness. :-)
In fact, if my XP was having these types of problems, I wouldn't be sticking with it for now.

I run XP on my laptop and I too love it! I've also never encountered any of the mentioned problems, in fact, I have/had far more problems with Vista and Windows 7! The only reason I don't use XP on my desktop is that the x64 version of XP never came out in Dutch!

I've seen plenty of these errors while fixing infected computers. Could come in handy.

Nice One. You could easily extend that list of fixes ..
I would add the search tweak to enable the "A word or phrase in the file" feature to work on all file types.
To do this, set the FilterFilesWithUnknownExtensions DWORD value to 1 in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex
