Yahoo! shuts down Xoopit for Gmail users
How does Yahoo! explain removing Xoopit from its biggest group of users? "We will not be able to keep investing in our Xoopit for Gmail product, and don't want you to end up with a lousy experience." That's going to leave a lot of Xoopit Gmail users disgruntled. Here's how this move affects you if you're one of them: your Xoopit data disappears on November 13th, but your attachments remain untouch (albeit unindexed) in your account. I don't know about other Xoopit users, but losing the service certainly doesn't make me want to sign up for an email address with the company that took it away. Bad form, Yahoo!

I switched from yahoo's mail to gmail because yahoo's user experience is too cluttered, and their spam detection left a lot to be desired.
I never heard of xoopit before today.
Another annoying thing about Yahoo is how they've attached their logo to Flickr's on every page of the site. Screen real-estate is at a premium in most cases and they're doing nothing more than annoy me. I know who owns flickr. Anyone who doesn't is either new to this world or has been holding out on using computers for far too long.

You're seriously complaining about the Yahoo! logo next to the Flickr logo? Really? It's 81 pixels in width, give or take a few pixels. On my 1280 width monitors, that's less than 6%. On top of that, the entire rest of the area up there is empty (unless Adblock Plus is blocking an ad up there). Not to mention that there is actually -too- much white space on the front page. Not looking through to the other pages because I'm just not that interested in looking.
So, unless you are old school running on a 640x480 monitor, those 80 pixels aren't taking up very much screen real estate. The average monitor width is over 1200 pixels now. Most people don't even run 1024x768 like they were two years ago. You're just looking for a reason to complain with that one.
I agree with Yahoo! mail though. It's cluttered. Bad UI design. KISS is the absolute greatest rule when it comes to web design.

Until Yahoo gives free pop3 and/or imap access I will stick with my gmail account. I have had a yahoo mail account for years but as soon as gmail supported pop3 access I started migrating everything to a new gmail account. I think that simple thing is what is holding back a lot of people from using Yahoo mail and their suite of services.

I just folded my Xoopit account. I wasn't getting that much out of it, and since it's going away in a month, why should I deal with it?
