MedalFolders: Program launcher that hangs out in the system tray
You can add shortcuts by clicking the "Open MedalFolders" option and dragging and dropping items. The program will automatically decide whether the item is an application or something else. Everything that doesn't fall under the Applications heading gets sent off to live in the Files and Folders area. And each category is arranged alphabetically. There are no sorting options.
The program uses about 10 to 20MB of RAM, which isn't much if you have a fairly modern computer, but considering the limited functionality I would have expected MedalFolders to be a little lighter weight. Still, if you don't need a lot of bells and whistles, but just need a quick way to access a bunch of files, folders, and applications and don't feel like using the Windows Quick Start menu, the program might be worth checking out.

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game.
The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...

anything that prevents two rows of shortcuts in my quick launch "toolbar" is ok by me. (Even if it does add one more to the system tray.)

I do this already with my start menu. I have the icons set to small, I set the number of recent programs to zero, and then I just pin my most frequently used apps the the start menu.

You know, you can do this without installing more crap. Just right click on the taskbar->toolbars->new toolbar, then select a folder. Put links to programs there, in a folder called programs if you like, and links to files or files there, again in a separate folder if desired. You can even have searches in Vista to have all word documents or some such filter for easy access. It also won't have a hideous background and hard to read white text.

Rob is right. Much easier to use Windows' own "new toolbar" function, and it uses *no* system resources until you click on it.
I can't imagine using 10-20mb for a launcher, when Launchy uses just 3-4 mb on my computer.

I find that pulling the quick launch bar to the top of taskbar and having it show icons of all the stuff I launch is quicker and handy.
