Gentoo to celebrate tenth birthday with new live DVD

Born as Enoch Linux in 1999, the distribution has slipped a bit in popularity over the years, yet it still provides a solid foundation for other distros. Like Debian was supplanted by Ubuntu, Sabayon - which is Gentoo-based - maintains a spot in the top ten on Distrowatch.
The anniversary build will be the first (and likely only) Gentoo release of 2009. A sneak peak of the release is already available via the US and EU mirrors for those who want to check it out now. As Phoronix points out, there aren't yet any 10th anniversary customizations in the snapshot builds. You'll just be getting a look at the current default packages for now.

I don't know if this is a labor of love or merely the brainchild of four very gifted games designers, but Level Up is a really weird mash-up of gaming elements that you have probably never seen in a Flash game before.
Let's start with the premise itself: Groundhog Day meets Memento. The game experience revolves around 'days': you explore the world and the clock slowly ticks towards the evening. You bounce around picking up gems and talking to the denizens of 'Level Upland'. Eventually you feel tired and head back to ...

I doubt Jamiroquai gave official sanction for that wallpaper to be used in a distro, although I also doubt he'd personally mind at all, his greedy record execs might though.
Regardless, I would also love to know where to get that HQ wallpaper. The video for that song was awesome, and I love how whomever owns that desktop put the trash can so it looks like it's in the far corner of the room. lols

You can easily find the wallpaper on Google Images with search = "virtual insanity". Found one anyway sized 1280x1024, saw 1024x768, other sizes not sure! I sort of like (like like love) this wallpaper as well :)

Nice wallpaper. I love jamiroquai, and I'm only 13. I might decide to use this distro instead of Ubuntu 9.10 on my laptop, nut I need to check if my ISP has the mirrors. Happy Birthday Gentoo
