Hulu sets its sights on a subscription service
As one of the Brits here on the Download Squad team, I can't help but be envious of the Hulu service. Sure, we've got the BBC iPlayer, but as a self-confessed US TV fan it'd be nice if they rolled out internationally. Before they get to that however, it seems that Hulu is hard at work getting the necessary technologies together to make a subscription service possible. There's few details available (and definitely no date for any service) but we're keeping a close eye on this.

Twitter scores another $50 million
Regardless of whether you see Twitter as the pulse of the planet or an incredible time sink, the San Francisco company that everyone's talking about has just raised another $50 million in venture capital, valuing the company at a cool $1 billion. That's an bucketload of cash - especially when the previous cash injection is far from spent (Twitter still has $30 million in the bank from its last round of fundraising).
Microsoft offers a sneak-peek of its Office Web Apps
Microsoft's much-hyped Office Web Apps entered Technical Preview this week, with a small number of customers chosen to take a look at the online counterparts to Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Whilst Microsoft also took signups for the next wave of the preview, the demand was so strong that they soon-after stopped taking signups.
Intuit gobbles up Mint.com
There's been plenty of reactions to the acquisition of Mint.com by finance behemoth Intuit this week. After two highly innovative years for Mint, their customers seem to be concerned that bringing the product into Intuit's fold isn't going to do Mint any favours.
