Is Opera cooking up "the next big thing" in mobile browsers?

So far there are no clues in the HTML source as there were with Unite. If we're going by the puzzles pieces, the new project is only about 33% complete -- though it's entirely possible that's just what Opera decided to go with for a grabber image.
With Unite, it only took four days to go from the tease to the big news. We'll see what happens this Tuesday.
If you're an Opera Mobile or Mini user, what would you like to see in a new version? If you aren't, what could Opera do that would make you switch mobile browsers?
Update: Opera's Espen André Øverdahl has spilled the bean(s). It's Opera Mini 5, though that's all his post reveals. No actual substance as of yet.
So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game.
The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...

"I don't think there's any hope for this company"
No hope in relation to what?
The company is profitable, has a large pile of cash, announced several deals in the last couple of weeks alone, and grows with 50-70% yearly. Everything is looking great for Opera as a company.
The desktop version grew its user base by 65% last quarter, and the revenue was up 100%!
Hope?
You have no idea what you are talking about, do you?

I think a simple "troll harder" would have sufficed. ;)
Jordan said 1:01AM on 9-14-2009
There's better posts out there to put the tag line "troll harder" on.
But there's no hope for them in relation to substantial market share. Sure they'll stick around, but also be unknown to most except for us nerds here.

I bet on Opera for the iPhone
ninja_in_pajamas said 12:03PM on 9-13-2009
Okay, so to seriously answer the actual question posed by the author, I think Opera Mini is just fine. Opera Mobile, not so much. It has been in beta for a couple years now. They don't have the brains to make the beta available for NON touchscreen windows mobile phones. If it's going to be in beta so long, it better be damn good once they polish it up. Or maybe the announcement is for Opera Mobile 10 Beta! Alright! Going from one beta to another! But I really hope that is not the case.

lol. thats actually what happened with 9.5 beta to 9.7 beta
ninja_in_pajamas said 10:03PM on 9-13-2009
OMG! I've been using the betas so long that I haven't even been keeping track of the version numbers at all. Now that I think about it, I have been using the betas since back when I was driving a Semi truck, so 3 years at least! They need to hurry up and come out with a finalized version already!

the one upside of this whole beta after beta thing, is that you can get the browser free, at least for touchscreen devices.
it would be good to get a new symbian release though.
ninja_in_pajamas said 12:51AM on 9-14-2009
Yeah, it really sucks for those of us with non touchscreens though. I just switched from a tilt to a samsung jack cuz my tilt went up in flames. Now I have to use Skyfire. The only thing Skyfire is missing is tabbed browsing.
fikhl said 12:57PM on 9-13-2009
My only complaint is that the current version is not fully optimized for touchscreen phones (or atleast that's the case with 5800), hopefully Opera will sort things out in the new version, I'm looking forward to it.

@ninja_in_pajamas
As you may well know, Opera Mobile is not freeware, the beta label is just a way to offer the browser free of charge until they feel needed.

I believe that it is going to be Opera for mobile phone...
Not so long ago (couple months after UIQ died) they created Opera Mobile with fingertouch. It was only available for UIQ (wierd right?)... Maybe not...
Actually it was great idea!
UIQ fans were great audience to test a product (any kind of new software at this point was welcomed) and get a great feedback while keeping the anonymity of fingertouch.
What is fingertouch?
I guess it is best to see if you could find some youtube video about it...
But in short... it gives the freedom to not use stylus while browsing by getting all the links and boxes zoomed and finger friendly.
It is fantastic...
For a while I was wondering why are they avoiding this great function...
But now i believe it will find it's place in a for of Opera Mobile with Fingertouch!

That would be cool, maybe apple would lay off them considering they are letting a bunch of apps that are web browsers in the app store now...
