Windows Mobile 6.5 phones to hit the streets on October 6th
Of course, Microsoft also admits that the odds of you holding out for that new OS before buying a new phone are pretty slim anyway, since the company "discovered that most people who carry a Windows phone don't realize it's running Windows Mobile" anyway.
The new phones will apparently come in a variety of configurations. Some will have keyboards while others will not. Some will have touchscreens, GPS, accelerometers, or high resolution cameras, and others not so much.
In North America we should see devices from HP, HTC, LG, Samsung, and Toshiba carried by AT&T, Bell, Sprint, TEULS, and Verizon. For information on Europe, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific region, check out the Windows Team blog post.

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game.
The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...

I thought we were really waiting for Windows Mobile 7 -- and 6.5 was just something to tide people over...
For the life of me I can't remember what was so great about WinMo 7.

Yeah pretty much. It's basically a new skin and a few tweaks here and there. Underneath everything it's just a 5 year old OS, which is Windows CE 5.

Yeah pretty much. It's mostly just a new skin and a few tweaks here and there. It's still based on Windows CE 5 from 2004.
Windows Mobile 7 will be set to compete with the smart phones out now like iPhone OS, WebOS, Android, etc... which probably won't be out for another year.

Sorry about the double(now triple) post. My first comment didn't work at first so I rewrote it. Sorry!

It may all be based on 5.0 but 6.1 is so much better than 6.0 which was pretty much the same thing as 5.0.
6.1 added threaded SMS, Filtering Emails and Texts and Playlists. Zooming in Pocket IE for no good reason. So the last one kind of sucks but the others made the my TYTN II usable.
6.5 does looks like the added swishing and swiping just for the sake of it. What's that on the home page? Is that 4 different places to swipe to unlock the phone? What happens where there's an alarm and an appointment reminder as well?
I really don't like what's happening with 6.5.

6.1 was a decent bug fix. What ever happened to 6.2, 6.3, 6.4??
Does anyone have a link to list of new features and bug fixes for 6.5?

Those of us gullible enough to buy a Toshiba TG01 this year are only too aware that our phone in running Windows Mobile, especially those who have just had their memory cards eaten by the SD card corruption bug. Most powerful smart phone in the world? Yeah right.
