How to turn off "on behalf of" in Gmail
To fix the issue, you just have to set up your alternate account to use its own mailserver instead of Google's. Go to "accounts" in your Gmail settings, and under "Send Mail As," you should see your alternate addresses. Click "edit info" and "next step," and you should find the option to send using your own SMTP server.
You'll just need to enter the username and password, and you're good to go. Goodbye, "on behalf of!"

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game.
The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...

That's exactly what this does.

This is useful, but whenever I send an email Gmail doesn't save a copy in my "Sent Messages" folder now...

Similar to the 1st comment, how do you get it to work with a Google Apps e-mail address? I can't get it to work.

I use my company through Google's mail servers and have yet to see the "Sent on behalf of" message. When you set up your mail. Do you use your user name as name@companyname.domain? Here is what I do in Outlook 2007:

It is important that you select the whole configure manually setting. Hope it helps.

I think the whole "on behalf of..." needs to go. Period.

are you being deliberately obtuse? That is what this does!

But you have to send it through a different SMTP server. I would just rather have it gone. Period. No set up, no sending emails through another server, not one more thing to have f---ed up.
And notice that it still does it for other Gmail accounts (since the SMTP server hasn't actually changed).

As aanidaani says, if the SMTP server is changed, sent e-mails no longer go through Google's SMTP server and do not appear in Google Sent Mail. Which means they are not available in all the devices - phone, laptop etc. - that I use. sadly, this makes the workaround useless for me.
