Firefox 3.5 coming June 30th, Fennec updated today

Webmonkey and Betanews are both reporting that Mozilla has confirmed that's the date it will push out the full version of Firefox 3.5. The latest version of the popular web browser has been available for testing for months, but by removing the beta and/or RC label, Mozilla is essentially saying that the browser is ready for the public to use without fear of encountering major bugs of security flaws. You know, until some major bug of security flaw is discovered and Mozilla pushes out Firefox 3.5.1.
Firefox 3.5 includes a number of changes from Firefox 3.0, including faster Javascript rendering and a private browsing mode which allows you to surf without saving your personal data. It also supports viewing some web video in a browser without any plugins.
In related news, Mozilla's released an update to the mobile version of Firefox today. Fennec Beta 2 for Nokia Internet Tablets and Alpha 2 for Windows Mobile was released today. The latest version of Fennec includes performance tweaks and a new theme.

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.
They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...

My Firefox updated this morning and now claims to be:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
No "rc" apparent.

Yeah, Mozilla has a habit of not actually including the "RC" anywhere except the download page. But trust me, you still have a release candidate:

Notice how it has the date "20090624"? I believe that is the sign that it is pre-release still.

Yes, but I've seen them do it with 3.0, they just re-badged the RC into the final, it was the same build number, date, and all. So we won't know until they release it.

It's still RC3 right now, but I'd give better than even odds that the final release is the same.
Of course, someone involved with Firefox might have better insight.

Yeah mine says:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5

Is it still unbelieveably slow upon start up and running constant updates without asking me?

I think I'm running 3.5 release not RC. I installed rc3 at work, everything went as usual (same as home). Then next morning I come and when I launch FF it tells me it's installing new version, and then does the add-ons check - everything like from the day before.
Now, I'll be honest, when I installed rc3 I didn't check what it was showing in the about dialog, but after this second update it was showing 3.5 without rc. So you guys are saying they usually don't put rc in the version number in the about dialog, but then why the heck did I have a second install/updated. Weird...
Anyway, I am happy with it though. It launches pretty much as slow, which is annoying, but 3 used to ramp up its memory consumption to 400-500 very quickly, and even when I've been working with 1 tab for a while it still wouldn't return to more normal levels. 3.5 rarely goes about 200-250, and is much better at releasing memory when tabs close.

It's odd that you took the time to suggest that you don't have an RC when Brad Linder already posted above, explaining that you do and why. Since you clearly missed it, I'll repost it for you:
"Yeah, Mozilla has a habit of not actually including the "RC" anywhere except the download page. But trust me, you still have a release candidate:

Eric explained it even further, by writing:
"Notice how it has the date "20090624"? I believe that is the sign that it is pre-release still."
I don't know about you, but mine still says "20090624." If I hadn't bothered to read the comments here, I would assume I had the updated, non-RC version too.
