YPOPs! brings Yahoo! Mail to Outlook/Thunderbird for free
YPOPs! is a free and open source application that provides POP3 and SMTP access to free Yahoo! Mail accounts. it does this by basically setting up a server on your desktop. The program acts like a go-between that lets Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora, Opera, or other mail applications talk to the Yahoo! Mail server. It does this by communicating with the server using HTTP and then setting up a POP3 server on your desktop to talk to your email application. As such, it's not technically a violation of Yahoo!'s terms of service. Or at least, that's what the developers claim.
YPOPs! offers instructions for configuring a number of email clients to work with the program. Outlook 2007 wasn't listed, and when I tried configuring YPOPs! to work with Outlook 2007 I was unable to properly connect to the server. Have any of you tried the program and had more luck?

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game.
The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...

This looks pretty much the same as it did a decade ago, so I'm surprised that it's not working with Outlook 2007 (or should I really be surprised).
On the other hand, if you're using Thunderbird, why not go with the handy-dandy Webmail add on from Thunderbird? It's worked flawlessly for me and is available at: http://webmail.mozdev.org/

This software isn't needed anymore, as it appears Yahoo pop mail is now free to EVERYONE.

I'm using it for a few months now on outlook 2007 and works great. The settings fot ypops on outlook 2007 are the same as outlook 2003. I'm surprise you can't get it to work.

Hey, this is funny...who said they cannot be accessed via POP3?...just because online-tech-tips said so?
Read this and know how to access them - http://techblissonline.com/yahoo-pop3-and-smtp-settings/
A popular blog like yours shouldn't mislead people...

indyank: No, not "just because online-tech-tips said so" but because YAHOO said so (not without upgrading, anyways.)

"The ability to access Yahoo! Mail via a POP3 email client (such as Outlook or Outlook Express) is only available to customers of our premium Yahoo! Mail Plus service."

Who made you to think that all the people are Yeahoo's premium mail account user!

Or you could just use Yahoo!'s help page and do it yourself.
I have been using POP on Yahoo! for as long as I can recall. Never paid any extra for the option.

Don't understand the discussion here with Outlook 2007, and the attempts to get Ypops to work with it. Outlook 2007 automatically gets the pop3 ability to work. All that USA Yahoo users have to do is convert their account to Asia, and ebable pop3 option. I have 4 accounts on Yahoo, and am receiving and sending without the need for Ypops.
