Just a few days after
pushing out the first release candidate for Firefox 3.5 to beta testers, Mozilla has made Firefox 3.5 RC2
available to the general public. While the only way to test out the first release candidate was to install Firefox 3.5 beta 4 and upgrade from within the browser, anyone can download and install the latest release candidate... or you can just wait until the full version of Firefox 3.5 is released, which should happen any day now.
Firefox 3.5 offers a ton of bug fixes and new features including:
- Private browsing mode that doesn't save your history or cached data when your browser session is over
- Tab tearing feature that lets you drag a tabs between browser windows or drag a tab into a new window
- Watch a video in your browser without any plugins or external programs
Sure, some of these features have been available in other browsers like Google Chrome since day one. But it's nice to see them coming to Firefox. Firefox 3.5 RC2 is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

just upgraded to RC2, but i wanted to comment that you could download RC1 separately (did it myself). Im sure if you dug around enough on mozillas ftp server it was there, but i grabbed it from betanews rather than digging through the ftp.

Came out a few days ago, I thought. Big question: when the hell is Final coming out? We've got 10 days left of June (the supposed release month).

When I got an update notice last night I was wondering "oh, do we have RC2 already?" I guess I was right.

I read a warning about an app that is in the new FF 3.5 called Location Aware that apparently wants to know information where you go on the internet, Thought others would like to know about it. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/1672/deactivate-location-aware-browsing-in-firefox-3.5

Firefox 3.5 is slower in Windows7 RC. Microsoft is at it again. I had to reconstruct my webpages to make them Internet Explorer 8 compatible. I use Shiretoko, which is a firefox nightly build, which is less dangerous than Minefield.http://jamesmsingleton.com

Are tabs running in separate processes, or was that feature dropped? I remember hearing about it way back when

That is coming soon to Firefox, but not in 3.5.

It's taking them forever...
And are memory leaks and RAM usage fixed in any way in 3.5 compared to the current one? 'Cuz if I have to endure watching Firefox consume 400-500MB of memory every time I leave it overnight with the new version too, forget it, I'll stick to 3.0...

Crazy Serb, you are right. I am using the 3.5 beta and for the last week it has consumed 300 to 500 MB sometimes. Most of my addons work in 3.5 and the new features and stuff are sweet. My Fix, install QuickRestart. After you restart Firefox 3.5, it uses up just a little bit of memory for a while.

Crazy Serb, your right! I have been using Firefox 3.5 on my Tablet with Windows 7 installed and it has eaten up 300 to 500 MB. I just install an addon called "Quick Restart" and it restarts Firefox with the click of a button and when Firefox comes back, its just using much memory at all.

I just wanted to write a review on the new drag and open in a new window feature. I don't like this at all I am always quickly browsing and working on websites. In a new version you should make it so it you can disable this feature.
