Windows 7 box art leaks, fails to impress
Sure, we found out yesterday that Microsoft expects to ship Windows 7 in time for the holidays. But when a number of web sites started posting pictures of the rumored Windows7 retail packaging, I was dubious. "Looks too much like the Windows Vista packaging," I thought, and moved on.But today they're looking a bit more real. Blogger Long Zheng discovered that the images have also appeared on a private Facebook group for Microsoft employees. While it's possible that the box art is just a concept for now, it does appear that these images are from Microsoft, not some guy in Poland with free time on his hands and a copy of Photoshop.
Still looks an awful lot like the Windows Vista packaging though.
With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.
They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...

Amen. And I agree with the comment below about everything being negative. If Microsoft donated a million to charity, The headline would read "Microsoft ONLY gives 1 million"

I mostly agree that all box art sucks, but the L4D box art is perfect.

Why does all MS news have to be negative? Who cares what the box looks like.

Here are just a few of the stories we've run in the past few weeks with a more positive spin. We don't love or hate Microsoft, Apple, or any of the other companies we cover. We just call em like we see em for each and every individual story.

Whats wrong with Vista Box art ? the packaging was small enough to keep and store the Disc .. not some huge cardboard box that would end up in a landfill 5 mins after opening it

I'm going to have to admit that I thought I was playing with some sort of puzzle box for a minute when I first tried to open the Vista box. If only I would read the instructions. Then again should a box need instructions?

Well maybe they are keeping same style Vista box because designing new box and shape can cost them and now it is not the best time to fool around with money, also they might have lots of boxes from vista left... so yeah... in future they might change it...
(I myself don't like the way it looks, I would make it look like seven (like diagonal side and then image of 7 (hard to expalin with words... )))

They should really give windows 7 a really cool box. Im talking Black AM EX card. comes with an artbook/install manual/features box. And have a black Box with a foil/holographic Windows Logo on it. And have a cool Bottom Slide out tray for the OS disk. Or... Give it a cool Clear box That Shows the DVD inside of it with a cool Holographic printed DVD like the Old Office XP disks did. And have a Big 7 logo and Windows icon floating in the clear box between the clear plasic that holds the disk in.. or have a outside plastic piece to it that has a bubbled up Windows Logo that has a paper print glued to it to add color! Presentation is everything... in RETAIL!!!! u want people to want to POST unboxing videos on youtube!!!!!

whoa whoa hold up, they're putting a picture of the retail box art, on a computer screen of a laptop on their upgrade box art!?
Sense, this makes none. I would like to see an upgrade box art showing the upgrade box art showing the upgrade box art showing the upgrade box art...

Or everyone could just get the OEM and not bother with the packaging. I have a habit of keeping every box that comes with my purchases so less boxes less cupboard space wasted.

These actually look closer to XP's boxart than Vista. Simple, solid color background with a bit of light bloom around the logo. The only thing in common with Vista's is the shape, and even then it looks like they could still fuction like a normal dvd case.

Take the laptop off and it's a beautiful case. But.... that would hardly be Microsoft, would it.

Zunes come in a nice minimalistic packaging...

I'm not sure how many actually clicked the links or looked at the box art, but it is only the upgrade versions that have the laptop on the box. The "full" versions do not have the laptops on the box. I think it is smart to have something simple and large that will help consumers see the difference between the versions. All they did was change titles, box colors and add a laptop for the upgrade version. The minimalist art that doesn't look bad is the actual product.

The artwork on that box may be pants but I'm loving the artwork in the RC. The loading screen and Theme imagery is superb :)
