eBay to eliminate listing fees for casual sellers
You know, I can't remember the last time I wrote an article about eBay fees that wasn't about the company raising fees or angering users. But the latest announcement from the company is that eBay will eliminate listing fees for users that sell fewer than 5 items each month on the online auction site. You'll still have to pay a sales fee of 8.75% of the final sale price, with a ceiling of $20 (in other words, you won't be charged more than $20 to sell items that have no listing fee).
The new fee schedule is effective June 16th and only applies to auctions, not "Buy it Now" fixed-priced listings.
With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.

They had already sort of done this with ebay motors by adding the classified ads feature. The catch is that you can only sell locally.

This is pretty good news, if you like auctions. Otherwise Half.com and/or BuyItNow is probably preferred by casual sellers anyway. And I'm assuming Half.com fees still exist for casuals.

They've already done this in the UK. However, as usual, we get a worse deal.
10% Final Value Fee (+ 3.4% PayPal Fees)
Capped at £40 ($60)

Ha ha what a joke. eBay does all it can to support the "storefront" eBay user and THIS is the concession for the little guy? Craigslist must be killing them, and good riddance.

What you may not know is that eBay has 25% ownership in Craigslist.

It looks to me that this will cost the seller more on some items. Lets say you list an item for $230. Under the old system you would pay about $9.50, under this new structure you would pay $20.

Once sold about 6 items on Ebay, after the fees and postage costs...I ended up with about $60. If I sold the same items via local classifieds or maybe Craigslist ...I might have gotten $100 or more. Ebay ...just not worth the bother to sell, unless you're a wholesale dealer, with a profit margin in site.

Ebay is digging a hole for it sellers and is going to put them all in mass graves. If your a seller you may all ready see the concrete. This is no joke it is how ebay is going to destroy it's self.
