SugarSync offers limited, free online backup
Of course, 2GB probably isn't enough space to backup all the important files on your computer. But the free level makes it easy for you to try the service before deciding whether to shell out some cash for a paid account. And if do only want to back up a handful of documents, nobody will pressure you to pony up any cash.
If you're just looking for an online backup solution, there are certainly other services including Carbonite and Mozy that are cheaper. But as we discovered when we checked out the service last year, SugarSync offers a few services you won't find elsewhere, like the ability to backup files from your mobile phone and access your files from anywhere.

So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game.
The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...

I hate Carbonite and now dead Upline because by default, they only backup _DOCUMENTS_. Let's take an example: I'm backing up my pictures folder. My laptop gets stolen. I restore my files to discover that the movies I took with my camera among the still pictures have never been backed up. For me that risk of not having everything backup makes the service worthless.
Dropbox is nice but it's a dedicated place where you have to put your stuff to have it backed up.
With SugarSync, I can mark my pictures folder to be backed up and forget about it. I can download the pictures on my laptop or desktop computer, they're automatically synced. And if I want to send the pictures to my family, I only need a few clicks to share the pictures online, with gallery, full resolution and all. When I'm visiting family somewhere, I can just log in to their website and access my files, show the pictures etc.
I subscribed to SugarSync last year and after testing the other services, I'm renewing with them.

Thanks for posting this article Brad and spreading the word about online storage. You should give Microsoft's Office Live Workspace a try; it comes with 5GB of storage space for free, supports most file types, and can easily integrate into MS Office if you want it to.
Cheers,
Jeff
