Xrecode: Simple utility for converting audio formats
The free Windows utility supports MP3, WMA, OGG, APE, FLAC, WavPACK, AAC, ALAC, and WAV audio. You can convert files one by one or perform batch conversion jobs. And if you want to encode the same file using multiple formats, you can do that too. For example, if you have some WAV audio files that you want to convert to MP3, OGG, and FLAC, all you have to do is drag and drop them onto Xrecode, select "multiple" and check the boxes next to those formats.

With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.
They key to getting good at Graveyard Shift is learning to use ...

you should most definitely include dbpoweramp - http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm. They don't call it the swiss army knife of audio conversion for no reason!

dbPowerAmp is awesome but in my opinion has stalled for many years. Useful for on-the-fly conversion from explorer, but other than that, meh...

dBpoweramp Free doesn't convert to MP3. I paid for the full blown version and its really awesome (you have to use the "DSP" plugins for full control).
However for the best freeware version it's definitely BonkEnc FTW!

Oh, I almost forgot ... the new BonkEnc dev build has a 64-bit version too.

As much as I love Bonkenc, I hate how it looks. If it just had a native system skin and more frequent updates, it'd be amazing.
And the 64 bit version is screwy for me.

Last weekend I tried to convert an APE (Monkey's Audio) file to seperate MP3 files using a cuesheet, which wasn't working with dbPowerAmp or with BonkEnc. Then I tried foobar2000 with the Convert option and the APE_input plugin. It worked better and faster than dbPowerAmp and BonkEnc combined.
So that is also a real competitor and is heavily recommended by me :D
