Microsoft already working on Windows 8

Microsoft hasn't finished tinkering with Windows 7 yet, but the operating system should be released to manufacturers and the public later this year or early next year. So what's next? Windows 8, of course, although odds are Microsoft will come up with yet another naming convention by the time it's launched, so that probably won't be its name.The company has posted several job listings for developers to help with work on Windows 8. So while it's awfully early for anyone to say much of anything about the next, next generation Windows operating system. But it looks like one thing Microsoft is working on is an improved version of its DFSR file system service, which stands for Distributed File System Replication. This service is focused on keeping files and folders synchronized across multiple servers and it will likely show up in Windows 8 and Windows 8 Server.
Windows 8 is scheduled for release in 2011 or 2012.

Thats insane!! They should first concentrate on completing 1 OS at a time. Only afetr Windows 7 is released and maybe a Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 is out, they can think of Windows 8.
If M$ makes blunders like this, Windows will be washed away once and for all.....

I am so glad you do not make software. Honestly, go read up on how software development works and how development resources are distributed across projects. If Windows 8 was not in the planning stages prior to the release of Windows 7, that's when you should be concerned about Microsoft making "blunders".
Do you think Windows 7 started development after the release of Vista SP1?

I can almost guarentee that not only is someone at microsoft working on windows 8 or whatever they end up calling it, they will also have someone thinking about the version after that. Its always been like that and allways will be

Its maybe, I develop software individually and can't work on multiple projects at once. But MS is huge... So, yeah they have the resources....

This is done in order to finish them faster... If they will start when they will finsih Seven there will be rushing... for Windows 8.. so they want to keep up and release updates. Also Windows 7 is almost done so it doesn't beed as much concetration..

Either you are VERY confused or you're making a judgment on an OS that's in the PLANNING STAGE. Besides, I'm using Vista on a relatively high powered machine and I like it - it just gets a bad rap because it had problems with older hardware.

If Windows 8 comes out in 2011-2012 then Microsoft will have finally gotten back to the consistent release cycle they had pre-XP. If Vista had come out when it was originally supposed to, 7 might already be a distant memory. Honestly, this is half the reason people are such zealots about clinging to XP forever and ever, because it should have been outdated by 2004 but wasn't, and everyone got stuck in their ways.
2-3 years is NORMAL, 6 years is NOT. Hell, 2000/ME were only out a year before XP came around (point to consider 2000:XP :: Vista:7)

I'm expecting Win8 to be more of a portal into the MS Cloud and significantly less development on the 'Desktop' elements. Perhaps much more Redmonds version of Google Gears or Adobe Air et al.
I bet someone in Microsoft wishes that the Xbox would kill off Desktop gaming altogether making it easier to balance internet cloud devices without the costs of having to code to support super powerful hardware. Unless of course Direct X 12 will support remote rendering running over MSTSC :)

Why don't you redirect that question to other OSes: OS X, Ubuntu, Fedora? Heck I can't even catch up with the new versions of fedora. While you're doing that, also ask why people continue to make newer versions of software.

ok well if you look closely it is a snap shot of windows 7 ha trying to pull a fast one (ps im the loop and windows 8 is going to be much better for office use not personal) windows 9 is going to be a complication of all the windows except for me/2000

Oh yeah, that screenshot is actually Windows 7 by the way because it says
"The Windows 7 Operating System is copyright..."
