Microsoft to let users downgrade from Windows 7 to Vista or XP

It looks like Microsoft plans to continue allowing downgrade rights once Windows 7 is released. Not only will users be able to downgrade to Windows Vista, but they'll be able to skip an entire generation of operating system and downgrade to Windows XP.
Windows 7 isn't the resource hog that Windows Vista is. So it's not likely that Microsoft will be offering these downgrade rights to netbook users. But corporate customers who aren't ready to upgrade hundreds of computers at once might prefer to buy new computers running XP than Windows 7. It's likely that you'll need to purchase a computer with a Windows 7 Enterprise or Ultimate license to qualify for the downgrade.
Microsoft isn't commenting on the deadline for downgrading to Windows XP. But an early report indicated that the downgrade option would be available through April 30, 2010.
With Halloween fast approaching, it's a great time to get in some practice defending your territory against zombies. In Graveyard Shift, you take aim at zombies and other creepy-crawlies, blasting them into splatters of cartoony green guts. It's a casual first-person shooter, and it's very easy to get the hang of - use the mouse to aim, click to fire. Graveyard Shift has at least 15 levels, and it might even have some secret stages I haven't unlocked yet.

Why exactly? Especially the XP thing - just let it die and push users onto a more secure OS.

As r3loaded said, why? Windows 7 is fantastic. Even though it's in beta stage, I already use it as my primary OS on my netbook. Besides, IE6 needs to die, fast.

I am not a young person and I am not a computer savy person. I purchased a HP in Nov. or Dec. of 2007. It came with Vista on it. I hate it..It has given me nothing but grief since I got it. I did have Windows XP on my old computer and I had no trouble at all. I could do anything I wanted to (which isn't much). I havae recently read that computers with Vista preinstalled in them are on recall, since Dec. of 2007...Is this true? I love watching movies on my computer and I put a movie in the other day, well guess what..It will not play. A box comes up and says I need to upgrade..Well I tried that to, with no sucess. I don't do any business things or fancy thins..but I miss my computer..Please help

XP,Vista,7, it doesn't matter. Don't ask for a new OS, ask for faster hardware. The boys at intel need to give us the mainstream quad core soon, maybe 6-8GB? OSs and fast MBs that can handle a ton of RAM 16-24GB can fix a bunch of problem too. Personalized OSs, with an "advanced option" that allows the user to select which features they do or do not what to install upon first start up can help also. Netbooks need to run a different OS than laptops and desktops. Fast PDAs and netbooks can both run a mobile version of windows. We need to draw a line, desktops, laptops on one side----netbooks and quick mobile devices on the other. Maybe "smart OSs" that can detect what hardware is installed and then make recomendations to the user of which options to(or not to) install?
