WeFollow: user-tagged Twitter directory

On the other hand, here's why I don't care about WeFollow. It's top-loaded, in a kind of leaderboard format. The front page displays the most popular people in the most popular categories. So, although the category list is deep, all the good stuff is hidden. Sure, you know Shaq's on Twitter, and you know who @ev is, but a front page that shows all the folks you're already most likely to follow doesn't seem the best way to make people's Twitter streams richer. It does seem to be a good way to get Kevin Rose more followers, though. In WeFollow's defense, though, I'll admit that the user-tagged system of adding yourself is cool and convenient.

Completely agree, Jay! It looks like a Twitter high score list right now, and didn't make it easier for me to find people to follow.
This could easily have been a ho-hum announcement in the torrent of Twitter apps I get by RSS, but Rose's rep gives it momentum.

Another great idea from Kevin Rose!
Very useful site. Dividing twitters by tags is a great idea.

The problem with wefollow is that user's classify themselves and rank is determined by followers alone. As such, you get people submitting themselves to categories/tags that are not even relevant to them.
We believe in some level of editorial control and rankings based off of the suggestions of many users.
You can suggest additions to tweettop via "@tweettop [topic] [username]".

Excellent idea, I've used the site to list my own Twitter! With the Twitter market growing by leaps and bounds something like this was needed. I'm not surprised to see Kevin being the one to capitalize on it.
