X-Mouse Button Control gives your mouse super powers

You're not locked in to one configuration - add as many apps as you like, and tweak settings for each as you see fit. A large list of commands are available, including cut/copy/paste, media controls, simulated keyboard input, print screen, browser commands, and a host of others. Vista users can assign Flip3d and show/hide sidebar to buttons.
X-Mouse's keyboard input setting is an excellent way to quickly execute an application's macros, scripts, or actions - I found it extremely handy in Photoshop.
Apart from the mouse button power-up it provides, X-Mouse can also save and restore your desktop icon layout with two quick clicks on its tray icon.
The developer offers X-Mouse as a free download for both 32 and 64-bit Windows.
So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. It has conditioned me to click with my thumb now, though, so I'll have to re-adapt if I ever get around to buying a new mouse. Like you I've got an old optical, and it's a bit worse for wear...

I just love it when it happens.
I just bought a new mouse, first time for me with 5 buttons, I wanted to change two of them to control my media player. Yesterday I tried to find something for free and couldn't.
Thanks a lot, you published it just in time :)

Will this let me reconfigure the thumb button on a Logitech mouse to be "middle-click" by itself, without requiring the SetPoint or MouseWare software to be loaded? If so, then this is what I've been wanting.

It just might...Ought to detect that as "left x button." It's free, so you don't have anything to lose, apart from a few minutes of your time!
