Researchers: Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates ads stunk

The "I'm a PC" ad spots were more effective. The ads gave viewers warm and fuzzy feelings about Microsoft in terms of technological and environmentally advancement.
Meanwhile, Brand Keys says that Apple's long-running "I'm a Mac" campaign is helping that company raise its profile and convince consumers that Apple is offering innovative, well designed products.
So, just how good at time waster games are you? Think you've got the stuff? Well, The World's Hardest Game 2.0 doesn't think you do.
Yes, amazingly, it's possible to have a sequel to a game called "The World's Hardest Game". It doesn't seem logically possible, since if the first one was actually the world's hardest, how could another one come along and share the moniker? It made me doubt the name in the first place. That is, until I tried the game.
The mechanics of the game are very simple. You are a small red square, ...

Yup, they were freaking amazing. Like most good comedy though, too far out of the left-field for most normal consumers though.

I'm not sure if the [+]'s are because they liked the adverts, or because they didn't. Either way, the commercials reminded me of the other off-beat ads that Seinfeld did. I still crack up at him asking the supermarket worker where the Pork & Beans are, followed by him wondering where the Beans & Pork is. All while riding a shopping cart like a scooter.
Silly yes. Funny, well at least to me.

So are Apple users really that different than Mac users?

That was a horrible ad campaign. It wasn't clear what the message was. At least with the Apple ads, it was obvious what they were trying to say.
However, I must say that I did like Microsoft's "I'm a PC" ads. It's too bad they waited so long on that one. The damage was already done by then, and the general public had been convinced that Mac was cool and Windows was not.

I've used Windows-based and Mac OS-based machines for years and I hated these ads.

Just the fact that this is a topic for discussion shows that the commercials reached their audience. They were designed as water cooler fodder for discussion, not direct marketing tools.
As far as marketing goes, the best thing Microsoft can do is get Ballmer to go sit in a corner and be very, very quiet in the best tradition of Elmer Fudd . He just comes across as arrogant and egotistical. Hire the Mercury girl, for heaven's sake. With the auto industry in the dumps, she probably needs a job.

The ads were way funny. No lie, if they did 26 of them I'd watch them all. IT was solid comedy writing and I really loved seeing Bill Gates trying to loosen up the shoes. People who don't get it, don't get it.

I've got to see Microsoft's stupidity in action to laugh my ass off more.
